New Edelbrock AV2 Carb

Metering rods : 065 x .052
Primary jets : .104

So the 1912 is set up for less fuel delivery. I didn't check the secondary jets.
you have to figure jet area. the cruise area for the 1812 is .00637. the cruise area for the 1912 is .00518. I worked on an 1813 a few years back and ended up with .107 primary jets and 70x47 rods with .104 secondary jets. cruise area was .00515 and WOT was good. so, the newer jetting for the same size carb confirms the tune up I did. one thing I did to help tip in was get rid of the big squirter. I used a .024 and this set-up drives great with very responsive WOT. I always believed to 750's and 800's were way too fat and the over rich condition contributed to the hesitations.

I received my AVS2 1912 800cfm and installed it. I added the same jets and rods my AVS had for a direct comparison.

Off idle is much much nicer with the AVS2. Tip in goes richer and is pretty steady as I give it more gas whereas the AVS would lean out. Verified with my A/F meter. I do need to swap back in the factory rods and jets because cruise is now rich (10.8 to 11.2).

And it seems burnouts are now easier to attain with the off idle responsiveness lol. I'm glad I bought one.

that booster looks good for the large venturii.

summit has these carbs for $330 something, or they can be bought direct from edelbrock. i'd love to have one to play with but don't have a clue what i'd use it on,....lol.

I know, right! Super deal on them so I figured I could play around with one. The response is fantastic throughout the throttle range. Down low, my A/F holds pretty steady. I really like it, no issues. I may even try and get cruise a touch leaner. With the stock rods and jets it hovers around 12-12.4 cruise. I may pull off the choke hardware as I really don't use it.

if your using a vacuum advance i'd try tuning with it before changing jet area. there is a 67x49 rod if needed.

#s 383 Magnum/432 Stroker that I built last year
Factory Exhaust Manifolds

AVS-2 installed this week
1912-800cfm

Installed a Edelbrock 1/2” open spacer at the same time on top of the Weiand dual plane

Replaced a very clean 1970 Carter AVS 440 HP-750cfm that I had setup pretty decent and tuned over with Edelbrock jets/Metering rods/Covers

Honestly I thought it ran pretty damn good before

WOW - Throttle response down low off idle is scary responsive - Add 20/30 mph into the throttle and the Auto Trans 3:91 Sure Grip is going sideways

Cruise is great

Only thing I did so far was set the air screws and idle

The air door is set up on the light side , will tighten the spring up next a tad and go from there on metering rods and jetting if needed

Very happy so far with just a few quick cruises

Starts and idles Awesome , but so did the Carter AVS that it replaced

I couldn’t find this thread thru search

If someone could change the thread title to AVS2

Not AV2

LOL - Anyways

Have you played with your A/F

I don’t have a A/F Meter

But I dropped down the primary jets to .101

Same metering rods and secondary jets

Was pulling a few plugs after idle then cruise mode

Honestly, I could go leaner on the primaries. I think I was around 12 at cruise. It's been hotter than heck here so I haven't taken the car out in several weeks. But it was running really good and plugs looked good.

Hey guys I am a FCBO member mainly and want to use the 800CFM AVS2 on my 505 stroker build. No fuel section there[FCBO] but found this here. Wondering what fuel pump [mechanical] do you use to feed this thing. I am not a drag racer but once in awhile like to do that. I have a big beast 69 FuryIII and like to cruise around and blast down the highway too with it's 3.23 rear. It is a rather mild build and want the torque.
I know Eddy's don't like more than 6 psi fuel pressure and if I can get away with it would like to not use a fuel pressure regulator. I was looking at a Carter that looks stock and has 30GPH and runs 5 psi. Anyways would like to hear recommendations on mechanical fuel pumps for the AVS2 800cfm.
Thanks.

The Edl-1723 pump would work. 6 psi non regulated.

Has anyone tried one of these?
The POWERBLAST PLATE by Thompson Performance, LLC
I'll bite!

Seems like alot of money for a stamped piece of brass.

Anyone using a 1912 manual choke and not using the choke? Does the choke plate stay open?

you don't need "as much throttle" with the 800 because the 800's primaries are noticeably larger than the 750's. the edelbrock website says these carbs can be bought direct from edelbrock. also, from the website, it appears that edelbrock ditched the big jets on the 800avs2. not sure about metering rod changes.
I have a 750 performer on my 68 Coronet RT and I just bought the 800 AVS-2. The 750 Performer has .113 Primaries and .107 secondaries with .071x.047 rods. The new 800 AVS-2 has .104 Primaries and .104 secondaries with .065x.052 rods

Give us a comparison between the two after you install the 800 AVS 2 versus the 750 AFB

I bought mine a year ago and posted earlier in this thread
Since then

800 AVS 2 - Running .101 Primaries / .104 Secondaries
.065x.052 Metering Rods
7" Pink Springs
Re-Adjusted float levels from 7/16" to 5/16" - Float drop 1"
