Tti exhaust install help

Ok I searched to see if anybody has had this problem but couldn’t come up with anything. I plan to call TTi tomorrow but thought I’d ask you guys today and maybe get this cleared up today. I started installing my 2.5” kit from the rear as they suggest. Installed the rear hangers by the bumper and the hangers in front of the axle in the stock locations. Installed the pipe and it’s about 3” to far forward. The rear most hanger is all the way to the slope of the tab so I can’t go back anymore. Has anybody experienced this or can you see what I’m missing?

Are your rear hangers mounted in the right spot?

I mounted them where the factory ones were. There’s no other holes it could go in that I can see.

Can you take a better picture of the rear hanger bracketry as you have it installed and post it.

Also, what year car are you working on and I’m sure you ordered the right stuff?

Also do you have the tubes on the correct marked sides.....

Keep in mind you fit everything up first and adjust after and then tighten it up.....

All of this got me thinking about my up and coming install, so I went to look for the instructions and I didn’t get any with mine. Can post those too so I can have a look? Sometimes an extra set of eye and a different perspective is all you need.

Never mind, found the instructions! The big green label on the hardware box saying turn over for Instructions was my first clue. Lol

I’ll read through them later so hopefully we can be of some help to you.

68 Super Bee. Not much instructions to them with mine. I’ll check the part number for each side and make sure again. From what I can tell it’s about 3” to far forward. The rear mount is in the factory place about 9” or so from the rear of the frame. I posted the best pic I could get.

Is the highest point of the tailpipe currently over the Center of the axle? If it is also about 3” too far forward you definitely have to move the tail pipe hangers back more. I just went and looked at both my 69 Belvedere and 69 runner and there are holes in the rear subframe about 3” away from the factory location of tail pipe hanger closer to the bumper. This may be your problem, even though tti says it SHOULD utilize the factory locations they also mention that you MAY have to drill new holes.

If you could shine a nice bright light on the rear subframe and how you have the hangers bolted on now that would be a big help to me. As it is now, the picture is to dark to see.

I have! For starters, Give TTI some major **** for not having any directions, and why they removed them from their site to go with any of their products! That's complete BS that there's no instructions anywhere when there used to be! At least I can't find them! Cr8crshr bought a used set a long time along that was never installed, that I installed for him. I have a feeling that they make them long so that they will fit station wagons, so it's a cut & fit job on all others. I had to cut[as per instructions] a few inches off to make them fit like your having problems with. The directions are lame and all the help you can get isn't enough to get it done I got it installed bbut still had to go to the shop for some tweaking. Measure 3 times and cut once. Good Luck

Ok I checked the part number and I have them in the right side. I took a pic with the pipe out of the way. It does look like I’m going to have to drill a hole to mount the hanger. It does say I may have to. I have side and bottom mounts with my kit. Now gotta see which will be easier to do. I really didn’t want to have to drill into my frame.

Let me go check and if I can take some pics, I don't believe that my brother had to have the frame drilled. Stand by for further posts and maybe pics.

TTI on a 64 Plymouth.Look on the right side of photo. looks like the hanger is in the same place as yours.
Yours could be the wrong part. I've installed about 20 or so complete TTI systems.Yes they have to be shortened at the header flange,(front down pipe non header) and the cross over. Never had a tail pipe problem but anything is possible.
Also a photo of a 79 Cordoba for reference.The Doba was a factory dual exhaust car. Not the best photos but all I got.

Okay here is what I have deduced from this.
First, your instructions highlight a different style hanger than the one you have installed, shown in a previous picture in this post.
Secondly, I have taken pictures of both my 69’s which I think should be the same as your 68super bee. I have a different style hanger than you do, which is almost identical to the OEM 69 hanger that is on my road runner with the exception of its finish.
See the pics. The Q5 tourquoise colour is the road runner, the yellow is the Belvedere.

On the pictures you’ll see my finger pointing to the threaded hole from the factory for the mount and also the hole which is back about 3” inches from the factory location. This is the hole I thought you were going to have to use but your mount isn’t bolted anywhere near either of these

Yep I saw noticed this last night, but you defiantly helped confirm. I have both style hangers side and bottom. I requested the side mounts because that’s what my car came with from the factory. My new issue is mine has the holes where yours does but for some reason no inner nut to thread into for some reason. So I’m gonna see if I can figure that out. Thanks a ton to all you guys for your input. I’ll update y’all once I get it mounted.

How big is the hole where it would thread Into, perhaps you can use a large self tapping bolt, I would run a tap through it though, or, if perhaps you could try to wrestle a spring nut in place, or
You could thread a nut onto a bolt, hold the bolt in place so the nut would be close to where the factory nut is and weld the nut, unthread the bolt and now you have a nut where it should be.

I plan at the moment is to open the hole a bit and weld a nut in to the hole. There’s nothing in there to tap other than the thickness of the frame itself. My other wonder is when I install my tips the pipe and tips will be competing for the same hanger. I haven’t got that far though to figure that one out. But it look like the tab on the pipe will need to be cut off and the tip be the support.
