Anyone ever come across this floor pan issue? This is in a 1970 Satellite, looks like a Factory 4 speed hump screw up...??

Wow...It could be. What if a worker thought it was coded for a floor shift and then realized the mistake? They all started out as automatic floor pans, right?

My car, being a different model. Also, a column automatic. Has something similar that is factory done. But, mine is more centered in the floor tunnel. My guess is, this might have allowed factories to easily convert the same floor pan to an automatic or standard transmission. Depending what car the floor pan was used for. A guess, being convinced that no one else could have done it to my particular car being that it has all matching transmission, driveline, etc.

Someone had too much juice on the line!

The patina, paint and sealer makes it look legit.....

Lol.....did ya read the op’s post

Sorry for assuming floor shift meant 4 speed. My mistake. This is exactly why I rarely reply to posts. I'm definitely not a perfect person and I just try to help others when I feel I am able. Sorry to screw up the thread.

Actually I just reread the original post. The original post states is this a 4 speed mixup? ????
Lol....he meant they thought it was for a 4 speed, cut the pan and realized oops it’s not a 4speed and welded the cut section back....

Geez....coffee anyone

It’s no biggie and don’t make it more than what it is....

People have to be able to handle a simple correction, that’s all....

Man I just asked to reread it, wow

Don’t worry HemiGTX70 it OK to ask questions.

moparnation likes arguing with others, and he will keep piling it on to get the last post. The name calling will start if you post again. He really hates it when you edit a post, so I edited this one!

I’ve been down his path, but only once.

I would think it would not be cost effective at the factory to convert it. I think they would have just added it to the sales bank and build another for that order.

That is not a factory job in any way. The sealer the factory used on the floor hump was the dark colored stuff that stays a bit gooey and absorbs the paint.

Look at this picture of a factory floor notice the paint didn’t stick to the sealer.

That job in this thread is either painted white over the sealer, or was a white sealer to start with.

Additionally, where are the welds they had to remove? Any evidence of weld cutting on the white floor pan in the first post? Do they cut the hole before they weld the hump to the floor? Or after?

Lol....there was no arguing or name calling above...where, what?

However you came here and posted false accusations and are trying to stir the pot.....

So look in a mirror when you try to pass blame onto another:fool:

What a hate filled post you just posted....

No hate, all truth, you slammed me once, never again.

True there was no name calling, yet.

My post states the name calling will start next post.

could be previous hack work someone covered over
did you dig out the crap and see what it is covering over?

Ohh I see...so this is personal and you are following me to try to start a fight by using someone’s else’s post and making false accusations that clearly didn’t happen here and won’t happen.....

Man you really have to find something else better to do with your time......sad indeed......

I say it’s a factory mistake. The seam sealer matches the firewall to floor seam sealer in color and application sloppiness.
