So hunting season is over and time to get back at the X. So thought I'd try and get the door windows in. First I fitted the mylar strip. I bought both repops and oems. I tried the repops first in case I made a mistake.

I'm trying installation with wing vents in. Those went in pretty easy along with the whisker strips.

Next went to set the trim piece on the window. This is when I realized that the curve of the glass didn't match the trim piece. It made getting it set pretty difficult but I managed it. I did use a piece of tape to use as a reference to make sure I had it all the way on.

So I unscrewed the upper wingvent to install the window. It went in a little tough again probably because of the difference in the curve of the window. Got it in and attached to window regulator. When I rolled it up and shut the door the top of the window wasn't touching the roof seal.

I found the problem, was in the profile of the window where it mates to the rubber piece at the top of the wing vent.

Looks like your gonna need to do a bit of grinding. Gotta wonder how someone
goes to the trouble of reproducing these parts and miss simple details like that

You can see the black line of material that needs removed. I used a Dremel with a stone wheel, then a sanding wheel, then a buffing wheel to finish. This allowed the window to seal at the top.

I had one side correct and one side off similar to you. When sanding it out, use a round wheel in a dremel and only go along the glass edge.. not across it. Going across will chip it. EDIT... I see you already have finished with success. My connection tonight is slower than 16,200 dial up...

The biggest pain was putting plastic over everything while grinding to keep the dust of the paint ECT.

I've had my patience tested to the limit for today.
That window issue looks exactly like something that would happen to me. So frustrating when you think a hour project ends up taking all day.

Luckily, I had all the original OEM glass for both cars. Doesn’t look like fun.

Mike I have the original, but it was a little cloudy/scratched so I bought the AMD tinted glass about 5 years ago when Year One had a 30% off sale. Hopefully they've corrected these problems.

This morning I prepared the passenger window for installation.

I'll put it in this week. I also adjusted the drivers door to line up and latch correctly.

Figured I'd snap in the quarter window whiskers, drivers side 2 minutes, passenger side not so much. I put AMD 1/4s on so not sure if it's the 1/4s or whiskers. 20 minutes later it went in.

You can see the scratch marks. I filed them to the right and finally got it to work.
