okay i would like to thank everyone that responded, you have given me some ideas.... Justin, i spoke with Chaz and he was very helpful, great guy to work with. To be honest im more confused than ever, im not a painter and not real sure what they can mix and not mix, so my new plan is since Frank is out of the PPG enamel i think ill have Chaz mix me up a pint and ill shop around my local PPG shops and see if they can match it up to what i really want and thats PPG concept urethane... Chaz said he can match it to the PPG Shopline but im hearing mixed reviews about that line of paint, im hearing that it loses its luster and might not hold up well ... like i said im no painter.

Don’t overthink it.
Shopline will hold up fine.
That said, I’d just shoot the enamel and be done.
Any automotive grade paint will be tough as nails.

yea it does never used there paint in quarts always got it in spray can. When I did my dads 67 GTX I had a hard time finding anyone that had it on the shelf or even not on back order. Ive used the MOPAR, vht & napas brand & they all seam to be different shades. I know totally auto is expensive but they are mopar people & they should know what shade it should be. Plus I went by my dads memory. lol

Heads are aluminum, as is intake and valve covers. I went back n forth for about 3 months on whether or not to paint the whole thing. Finally decided to leave them aluminum.
I definitely would have gone the other way.... They are called "Stealth" heads for a reason, Of all the aluminum heads choices we have these days they far & away look closer to OE than any other head...

Totally understand. That's why it was such a battle for me. Then I thought about the aluminum radiator w 2 electric fans, the serpentine pulley setup w modern a/c compressor, aluminum intake, large aluminum valve covers and tti headers. I didn't want to spend months painting and trying to disguise everything. Not gonna be a show car or racer, just a very dependable daily driver that I will give to my granddaughter when I can no longer drive.
If you really want an authentic looking job, just put yourself in the position of the factory worker. They were getting paid to coat many engines in a short period of time. Using a gun with a wide fan and a good amount of volume to accomplish it, it's inevitable that most, if not all, surfaces will receive paint including the exhaust manifolds. There wouldn't be a reason to try to avoid certain areas of them, especially with a wide pattern and the fact that most of it will burn off within the first few minutes anyway.
