So, the other day the wife's layin' into me about how I don't appreciate her, how much she does for me, that I don't listen to her or pay attention to her and in the middle of her tirade I realized how lucky I am to have had some of the cars that I've had. As I was thinking about some of my past rides I couldn't help but remember some of the ones that I regret getting rid of, or at least wish that I still had.
I've always been a Mopar guy, but like most, I've had a few other makes in the stable at one time or another, which brings me to one of the cars that I miss, a 1970 RS Camaro. It was a plain Jane car but I liked it, 307ci, manual 3 speed on the floor, nothing special but it was fun to drive and looked good going down the road. I wouldn't give my eye teeth to get it back but if someone offered it to me at a good price I certainly would try to scrape up the money to buy it back. Another one that I'd buy back if possible was a '68 Impala SS fast back that I rebuilt. It was rough when I traded a beat up '55 ford pick up for it, but my wife wanted it, so I redid the car for her. The factory 327ci came out and a 396 went in, I rebuilt the trans, front end, suspension, new interior, well you get the idea. A buddy of mine did the body and paint at his shop, it was a really fun car and people loved it, I miss that one. I really miss the '66 hemi, 4speed Satellite that I had, but I sold it when I bought the house that I'm in. What was special about that one? It was a '66 hemi, 4 speed Satellite. I'm guessing everyone has one or more cars that they've let go for one reason or another, which ones do you wish you still had? Throw in some pictures if you have them.

Yes halfway through her tirade you stopped listening.

Piss on that. In one ear out the other.

If he wasn't already dead.. I'd kill my old man for paying a tow truck driver $50 to take our '64 Belvedere away after it dropped a LCA. After that I've parted with nothing, that was worth keeping anyhow.

As for cars. Yup. And Some not so much.

You won't find many who came through the muscle car era having sweet rides that they let go of with later regret, me included. These were our daily drivers. I had a '67 GTO vert, all optioned out as a junior in HS. Talked my mother into co-signing for it. My brother was a big geeto guy owning 4 of them over the years back when and so many decades later we still get to remembering that car (and some rare ones he had). Then I got a '70 Cuda vert 383/4 speed (always a vert fan) eventually trading it in for my 1st new car, a '73 340 Challenger (well demo with 3,000 miles on it). But the GTO and Cuda sure wish I had back!

I thought for a minute we were going to have a tender hallmark Christmas message.. ....... I love it, got to show my wife.

I miss them all when they are gone...especially this one..I tried to buy it back last summer but the dude would not budge...I offered him WAY more than it's worth or what I should have. He still said no...so I bought an e body

This topic is funny.
The OP started out about his wife and then shifted to cars. It looked as if he was going to chat about long lost loves or the possibility of losing his current woman.
The OP may have done it by accident but it worked out funny the way he wrote it.

And yes. This was my first ride. And very rare 1961 Electra 2 door hard top. 445ft/lbs of torque and would really roll when you got her going. Don't miss the X-wife that took it because she knew what it meant to me.

THis just cracks me up. It reminds me of the old jokes.....
Wife left me and she took the dog. I'm going to miss that little guy.

Regarding cars we let slip away......
I have owned something like 65 cars and trucks since 1982. Most were junkers or project cars. Of those, only 3 have been original big block vehicles, one was a genuine 340 car and another was a 360 car. Never anything rare or collectible. Even the XP and XH Chargers I have are not the top shelf, pedigree cars that many others here have. I do miss one car I had and it wasn't one that would be difficult to duplicate. 1973 Duster. Yeah....It wasn't the car that was so great, it was what I did with it, the time in my life that I owned it and the long standing memories that stick with me because of it.
In 1995 I bought this 73 Duster with a 318 and a slipping 904.

I had plans for this car. I wanted to make a video movie and in it, there was going to be some stunts, some wrecks, burnouts, car chases and......Jumps!

I played around with different torsion bars, leaf springs, sway bars, shocks....

I painted it a color that met the goals that I had in mind....

I never liked this color but for this movie, it was the only choice.

Yeah....I did this to a Plymouth!

I made a fake roll bar using black plastic ABS pipe:

This car was a column shift, bench seat and rubber mat stripper. I bought a wrecked 74 Dart Sport 360 and swapped over the interior and door mirrors.

Here is that picture again. You can see my stunt car through the window....

You can see it to the left here too:

Now...The reason that I miss this car is because when I had it this color, I got the widest range of attention from people....Stares, smiles, thumbs up, obnoxious comments about it being the WRONG car, tailgaters and lookie loo types galore. There were NO cell phone cameras in the late 90s but if there were, I'd expect to see people hanging out their car windows shooting pictures.
I drove these 2 cars all over the place, spinning tires, sliding sideways off road, doing "Rockford" 180s, through shallow streams, dirt trails, mud, sand, rocks...everywhere.
Then after the movies were done, I painted the Duster and cut up the wrecked stunt car.

Yeah, it's a Chevy.. bought it in '92 for $3600, solid body from AR. 383 stroker/350 turbo.. paint a little faded but rock solid everywhere. Had a friend paint it and other than, exhaust, wheels/tires, and bumpers I did nothing to it. Sold it for $13,500 in 2005, just about twice what I had in it. Thing is I put 22,000 miles on it, pushing it often and the thing always ran great never broke down, never a problem. Great car.
