Could someone give me the measurements of the low profile hemi scoop, length, width, height in front and back. I have the wild hair to fab one out of aluminum or light mild steel. It will just go on a 62 Dart more door for the fun of it all. Thanks

Not to burst your bubble, but this style of scoop looks easy to make to the naked eye, but it is harder to fabricate than you think in order to look correct.
It might be easier to just get one from Mancini or Jim Kramer.
I made mine out of aluminum years ago against all odds and no such thing on the market, but it was a mission.

I have had some nice fiberglass ones years back made by SledCity. I just rather have the dimensions than just guess-ti-mate it. HS shop class has metal brake I can use. I guess if I can fab all my floor pans, and the underhood and under trunk lid bracing, without a metal brake, I can make this scoop.
I think I an make a nice pretty cose t correct scoop and not hve $400 in it. A sheet of 20 ga. mild steel is probably $40.

It's those compound bends and rolls at the leading edges and ends that make it a little hard including that in-curved ridge on the back side that meets the cowl/windshield area. Some welding required. The narrow crease down the middle of the topside can be made with a jigged male/female press mold. I forgot all the dimensions on the low rise scoop being that mine is fashioned after the taller AFX style.

Call Larry at Sled City, talk to him. He's a Great Guy, He'll probably give them to you...

****, I like a guy that says “I want to make it”! I would love to see progress pics if ya decide to do it.

This scoop will go on a 62 Dart MORE door, it is just a fun car to do, cheap is a big part of the build. One 4 x 8 sheet of mild steel would probably make 3 scoops, a sheet of maybe? 20 ga would cost here about $40. Lots to practice my "technique"?? on! Cheap fun!!!!
I would love to have some metal working stuff. I have made the wheel lips for several cars with a hammer, a piece of railroad track, a few vice grips, and the front of the car trailer!!!! ha
I was thinking of an article I read in Hemmings Muscle mag?? other day. The story was of guy that found a decent 65 GTO driver type, faded old Earl Scribe paint, old rusty mags, etc just stock everything, half woreout, .... and then he had a shop do the full fledge pro touring deal on it. I would have wanted it BEFORE he spent all that $$$ on it!!! I am not a fancy guy.

Is this what you want to replicate? If so, I will be glad to get you all the pertinent dimensions.

Buying metal online is expensive but driving 2 hours at $.59 a mile is very expensive. You don't see the full $.59 but some is hidden. Might be better to buy 2 sheet online or if long drive.

Heck they wanted $80 to deliver it! Probably 120 mi round trip, but I will get some closer, probably Huntsvile, that is 60 mi trip. That also gives me an excuse to buy some jnk at HF! When you live out, driving everywhere is just part of life. I just hate Houston and its traffic. I don't have a concealed license, but I wold not stop to fill up with gas there, unarmed!
I bet the HS ag dept can get it for me, just would have to wait.

Hope you have good luck finding a supplier. Delivery at $80 is crazy.
