1966 electroluminicent needle help

Hi there. We are trying to fix the fuel and speedo needles to glow when lights are on. The needles spark, burning the orange color but wont light on.
Any help would be really appreciated. Please see attached pic

Oh boy. The wires to the needles are "cat whisker" - really fine wire. The coating on the needle has to be correct also. Electroluminescent is 200-250 VAC on the white wires, what are you connecting it to in the pic? May be best to just send it out to be redone.

Where on the needle is the problem. Your picture will need to be a lot closer to see anything you describe...
