It's that Time of Year, and 1 week til Xmas ! My wife just pulled these out of the oven, so I'm on deck to do some painting. Several light coats, followed by a nice finish soaking, and the rest for the crew...

Sorry but I couldn’t eat that stuff with someone else’s mouth.... had too much as a kid....

I used to buy the Hostess fruitcakes around Christmas time and they were pretty good!
When those dried up, I did some research and found Claxton fruitcakes out of Claxton
Georgia. Ordered some up and Dang!, they are good! Nice to see your wife wants to go
through all of the work to make them!

My father's favorite brandy, God rest his soul! Merry Christmas, your wife made those for you that's wonderful! 440'

Had a comedienne on a cruise ship come out and introduce himself on stage once.
He said he was from Claxton Georgia and asked if anyone knew what Claxton was
famous for? I was the only one in the audience that yelled "Fruitcakes!" He was lucky
I was there that night!

I love fruit cake also...but tell your wife that she left her run a little late. The cakes are best made at least 3 months before consumption...and the application of alcohol should be a gradual but nevertheless important part of the process. :)
What she made looks very nice.

Yeah, my mom used to make a great dark fruitcake. Soaked, and l mean soaked in brandy, aged for a full year.

Lol, my sentiments exactly!

Vandan, as far as fruit cakes go I’m sure your wife’s is a good one though. Just totally not for me.

My Mom used to sell Claxton cakes for her church when I was a kid (55 years ago). I still like them. My wife has made some good fruit cakes also!

The comedienne was a HE?

GOOD fruitcake is hard to find. When you find it, oh boy!
