In regards to 69 GTX the only list I am aware of is the difference between 4spd and AT production numbers.....Overall total was 13,866 and out of that 4,004 were 4spd........

Black is not a common color....Most black cars back in the day had vinyl tops.....

In any event any GTX is rare....they were the high end car back in the day......Unfortunately, they do not bring 2nd gen charger prices....

Thanks for your replies. I know on the Ebodies there is a list of % of how many cars were painted certain colors . Then you can take that % of say automatics . I know it’s not exact but a guesstimate.

WOW! That's is surprising (to me at least). I would have expected it to be the other way around

In the Mopar world, the numbers lean heavily in the direction of AT's for practically every muscle car model made. I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard that because the Torqueflite was quicker than brand X four speeds that stop light racers preferred them.

E bodies would be 70 and later. Colors were tracked for 70 and later so the data for E bodies is known.

colors weren’t tracked for 69 so we don’t know those numbers.

You can’t cross reference options (automatics that came in black) to come up with a new number. Doing so is flawed logic and math. The numbers don’t work that way.

I think you’ll find that the development of the automatic transmission technology in the 60’s increased the installation percentages.

Based on industry data, up until 66 or 67, a manual transmission was more common. After that, the automatic became more common.

A three on the tree was very common and the standard set up for many years.. While still available in the 70s, fewer and fewer cars came this way as customers preferred the convenience of an automatic transmission.

I agree, but that includes all vehicles. In this case we are discussing a particular muscle car, which would lead most people to think a lot were built with 4 speeds, compared to grocery getters. I also, like Ranger16, find it hard to believe that for a 1969 440 ci GTX hardtop that less than 29% were equipped with a 4 speed from the factory.

I agree, one exception is the 70 V Code RR. About double the number 4 speeds than automatics, which surprised me.

69 GTXs HTs shipped for US sale.....from what i was able to figure out

440 4 speed with 3:54 Track Pack about 3342
440 4 speed with 4:10 Super Track Pack about 662
440 automatics with 4:10 about 534
440 automatics with other ratios about 9,318
