Hello everyone I am looking for a internal diagram/ schematic. The unit is a 1971-1973 console mounted player recorder. Philips 3501-045. Is there anyone here who can help a guy out? I need to find part's.

By the look of the picture, you are at least looking for a belt. It looks like it has turned to tar, which happens when they get old and are not used. Even with no belt to work with, there are places on the internet where belts can be replaced by size. Here is a site you can try: https://www.vintage-electronics.net/

+1 on the Antique Radio Forum. Use the Vintage Audio Equipment Forum.

As with the offer by Billccm, I offer whatever help I can provide also.

Sams Photofacts has a huge series of books relating to auto radios and tape players. I will try to find out which one you would need. There are places where you can buy an individual schematic instead of the whole book.
The most common issues with old players are the belt, and dried lubricants which will prevent the track change function from working properly (or at all).

Thank you. I pictures are for reference. The one I have I replaced the idle tires and drive belts. It does work , but poorly. The Fast forward doesn't work and the reverse is intermittent. I bought a book from Ebay hoping it would have the schematic for the tape player, but it only has the multiplex reciever.

I cleaned the pullies and demagnetized the head too. I noticed that the take up reel has a larger sized tire on it that makes poor contact. That seems to me to be the problem with the fast forward at least. But I'm having difficulty finding out the size. I used my digital caliper to measure the old tire. And contacted the source that I had gotten the belt and tire kit from. I really would like a manual on this unit. I'm a noob and not sure what to grease or where.

Buy a can of DeOxIt off eBay. Spray clean the switches/contacts with a good flushing action. Cycle the switches without power repeatable and then set overnight.
Pinch Roller sets the speed pretty much. I used plain old rubbing alcohol and QTips to clean the idler wheels.
There is an old school repair shop in Louisville, KY called "Magnetic Tape Recorder Service". They have NOS parts for just about every tape deck ever made. Call them as email does not work well with these guys. They will help you.

Care to share?
Been sick for a couple of weeks.

So in response to where I got the pdf: https://www.samswebsite.com/

The rest is pretty self explanatory.
I also subscribed to and follow a YouTube channel: Mr Carlson's Lab.
He has in depth videos on all kinds of electronic troubleshooting, circuit building , and rf alignments. The tools you need and how to makes some pretty cool tools to diagnose faulty circuits.

I am waiting on another part to complete all the rubber parts restoration, ie. Belts and idle tires. Next I'm going to replace all of the electrolytic capacitors in both the reciever and the cassette player.

Since my last post I purchased a soldering station from Amazon. And some spray cleaner and lubricant.

YIHUA 853D 2A USB SMD Hot Air Rework Soldering Iron Station, DC Power Supply 0-15V 0-2A with 5V USB Charging Port and 50 Volt DC Voltage Test Meter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S4GPM66/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cBHdEb32NP65J

I'll post the results when it's all back together. I'm still in the process of getting the right capacitors and the other odd ball idle tire.

If you are looking to recap your recorder and receiver it's going to be around $100 for the capacitors. They are all axial capacitors and they are difficult to source do to the oddball ratings.
I ended up getting mostly vishay branded caps.

I changed out the electrolytic capacitors last night. It will be going back together this afternoon. And then I will tear into the multiplex reciever and change out those electrolytic also.

All changed out.

In hind sight, it would've been cheaper to get all radial caps instead of the axial ones. But oh well.

Today I received the tire so that the fast forward will work. If anyone is interested this is where the tire came from and where it goes. The new one is installed, the old one is on the right.
