No filter.....Just the vapor separator.....Same set up as the 440 HP the difference is on a 6 pack the steel line to carb is attached to the brass block. The brass block that has the fixed lines to the carbs....

Please forgive me for asking, but I changed my fuel pump to the :lowdown:Carter M6903 mech fuel pump and also installed the lower and upper stainless steel braided Promax fuel lines. I have removed the vapor separator from the system, and plugged the return line that went from the separator to the gas tank.
The car came with a :lowdown:WIX metal can style fuel filter at the engine end of the hard line, but between the gas tank and the fuel pump. I replaced it with the same part number WIX filter. The Promax upper fuel line has a 40 micron inline reusable fuel filter that I kept in the system. It is between the fuel pump and the 3 carb lines.
So:
Is plugging the return line to the tank that used to come from the vapor separator OK?
Should I find a way to reincorporate the vapor separator?
Should I eliminate the filter between the fuel tank and the Carter pump? If yes, should I put it between the fuel pump and the 3 carb lines or is the 40 micron metal mesh Promax reusable fuel filter adequate, and eliminate the WIX filter altogether?

Thanks.

I never ran a filter between tank and pump. Also I lived in NY and now in S Carolina and never ran the vapor separator and never got vapor lock on my 6 pack. So now that Im installing a 6 pack on the Bee I will get vapor lock. I did have the clear gas filter between pump and carb.

Don't quote me on this but from what I remember, not all 440 HP cars got the vapor separator. Seems to me, only the 4 speed cars ( and Hemi) got it. I bought a 68 Charger R/T new in 68. It was a 4 speed car and had the separator and 1/4" return line. The only reason I remember is because my brother had a 68 Charger 383 4 speed. His car would vapor lock in hot weather but mine never did. We did some research on it and decided to add the vapor separator and return to his car. While searching salvage yards for the parts, we found a couple of 440 Charger R/Ts with automatics that did not have the return line. Not sure of the rhyme or reasoning behind it but apparently Ma Mopar must have had issues in their testing methods so added the separator and return line. My thinking on it is, if you don't have problems, you don't need to add it but if it is already there, use it.
