I repair radios, but do not do conversions, or full restoration of the cosmetics.
Most of the time replacement of the capacitors and a good cleaning and lube restores to like new operation.
Tuning clutches can be labor intensive and if these are worn a full chineseium conversion is recommended.

I subscribe to a antique radio forum and both Wards and Bill The Radio Guy get good comments.
I believe Wards was the Rolls Royce of car radio restoration shops with both mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic restoration. It was also one of the most expensive shops, but quality comes with a price.
Sorry to hear about Ward's passing. Another radio guy"s lost skills of the trade gone. If I were 10 years younger I'd ask the Wards family to let me take over the business on a pay as you go plan.
