Classic/Collectors Insurance Poll

Which insurance company do you use?

Can't answer your poll because I have State Farm for all my vehicles including the roadrunner and you don't show them on your list. The rate is very reasonable at around $300 a year and the car is insured for 40k. Keep in mind that I have had this insurance for a very long time so they know I have only had one claim since I've been with them and it was minor. I also have antique plates which in West Virginia means I am limited to driving it on weekends, Holidays, shows and to or from a shop so the rate here is better with this plate.
I left off State Farm, Farmers, Allstate and all the other non-classic auto insurance companies. If you read the article I linked or maybe others on the net you may see who State Farm uses to insure classic cars.

While we are here, I have had a few minor oopsies and did not put in a claim out of fear:jackoff: Has anyone put in a minor claim and have the rates go up? Or a major claim??:popcorn2:
Amazingly, after my episode at failing to avoid the garage with the GTX, my rate did not go up despite a fairly decent claim amount (Hagerty).

I was told by my agent that only one company writes policies for cars stored under a carport (i.e. not in a locked garage). IIRC, it is Hagerty.

Grundy, very easy to deal with. In California Hagerty is 2x the cost, I am stunned they are still in business.

I'm leery of State Farm. We have had everything with them for years - vehicles, house, umbrella. So I checked with them on our Satellite when we bought it. Our agent said, sure - we have a collector car division now. He came over, snapped some pics, and wrote the policy for the value I wanted. Of course, he had no idea what he was looking at. About a month later, I received a letter from them. They said they valued our car at only $9500. (well under the stated value we had on it). It was then that I realized that State Farm's collector car division does not understand collector car values. $9500. for an original, running, driving unrestored 4-speed Hemi car? Yes, it doesn't have great paint and has rust, and I think that's all they can see. No further investigation into the condition of the car - they just judged it off of my agent's pics and assessed it for that amount. I was on the phone with Hagerty within 5 minutes of reading that letter. I emailed a couple of pictures to them and it was a done deal. No fuss, no muss. So, beware of State Farm collector insurance should you ever have to collect.
State Farm can kiss my ***. I'll never do business with them.

May be hard to believe, but CA isn't the only place on the planet....:)

I recently received a letter from my Insurance Agent at Classic Collectors (owned by Infinity Ins.) stating that she was retiring in 2020. The letter said my policy will be transitioned to Hagerty in 2020. My current policy with them ends 10/2020. I called Classic Collectors and they explained that Hagerty bought Infinity Insurance and I would get a quote from Hagerty before time to renew the policy. So, after reading many older threads on FBBO regarding classic/collector car insurance I decided to create a poll to gather those opinions in one place.

Hopefully, we shall have enough meaningful participation (i.e. reasons for or against any given company) to create a sticky thread one may refer to from now on. The poll is open for 60 days. You may only vote once but may change your vote, if need be.

I found the following link from SEP 2019 that was helpful. One more thing to consider, if you have a resto-mod you should make sure you get the proper coverage as they are in a different category than classic or collector cars.

*****UPDATE October 2020*****

Well, Hagerty made me an offer I could not refuse. $515 per year for the 70 Cuda, 69 Coronet and 69 El Camino.

Forget what I said about Grundy, they are a bunch of idiots. Despite being honest with them since the beginning, with plenty of pictures, they suddenly realized they don't in fact cover cars that are stored in any garage shared with other owners, even private garages full of lambos and ferraris. None of this was written in their policy, of course. Good thing they "realized" this before I had to make a claim. Moved to Hagerty, which apparently has revised their California rates and they are very competitive now. Hagerty is much more accommodating about storage.

When Hagerty took over Classic Collectors, they guaranteed to keep the rates the same for the first year. They did indeed keep it the same, except that they charge an additional $45 for towing. Even then, they where still lower than all the others I checked with (for this year). So I'm going to renew with them for 2021 at least. May have to do some shopping around next year.
