Hey all. So this is probably a stupid question, but I will be putting a 440 in a 64 polara. It originally had a 318. My question to those that have done it or might know is. The 318 has a mid sump oil pan. Being as I don't have the mounts for the 440 yet. I was assuming I would need a mid sump pan on the 440 also, but didnt know if the different mounts would change anything. The 440 I have to that will be used for the build has a front sump on it. Will I need to be trying to find a mid sump pan or will the front sump fit. It appears as I will need a mid-sump but wanted to make sure. trying to get my bearings to round up all the parts I need. Thanks.

Look on summit they have what you need. From stock to racing just depends on what you want to do.

Classic industry might also have what you need.

On 62-62 B-bodys you can use some of the aftermarket pans, such as a Milodon. If you want a stock style pan, you may have trouble with many of the mid 60's and later mid sump pans. Some people are forced into modifying their K frames. Your best choices are a Street Wedge pan or a Max Wedge pan. Street Wedge pans are scarce but floating around some. Max Wedge pans are unobtanium, but luckily they just started making repops, so now EZ.

The oil pan that is on the 440 now is a Truck/Ramcharger/Motor home pan it will not work. If you want to use a variety of pans in the future while the engine is out you can notch the K-member and re-box it in. This way multiple center sump pans can be used as long as they clear the center link...

I guess I'm not real concerned about it being a stock style pan. If a milodon will work without boxing the k member. I would be more interested in doing that. Do those milodon pans require different pick up tubes than a factory style? I am guessing they are deeper being they hold more oil?

Milodon sells matching pickups with their pans.

Milodon sells matching pickups with their pans.

And they (and others) have more basic pans with close to stock depth, as well as the 10 quart monsters that some people need.

What you have to watch for is the clearance on the left front corner (P.S.) as you're holding the pan! Early ones had the corner modified to clear the K-member! Several places are selling repops that will fit! Vans, Jegs' Summit
