Rock Island .45 1911 style

I recently obtained a P220 as part of a trade, I have to say it does shoot pretty well and surprisingly controllable for a .45 ACP pistol.

The only problem with my 220 is that as I age the damn slide gets harder and harder to rack ! :screwy:

Go to fiber optic sights, Stevie Wonder can see those... LOL I have them on many of my guns and they work awesome.

I did the whole "simplify the ammo" thing a few years back, got it down to just 9mm, 12ga,
22LR, .556/.223 (and of course, 30-30 for the ol' Win94).
That's great and all, but it sure takes a lot of really cool firearms out of the mix, such as my
beloved old 44 Magnums.
That’s why I’m seriously thinking of a lever action .357, to go with my Ruger speed-six!

Yeah, first time since I've owned firearms in my life that I don't have a single, solitary revolver in the mix.
After all the fun with 44Magnum stuff, I settled into many years of .357Magnums of one sort or another.
I really like that round; might be my favorite handgun load.

AND, even after a lay-off of a few years; the old .357 still shoots pretty much to aim! Jeez,I think my Ruger is almost 40yrs old(!)Muscle memory or something.

Anyone have one ? if you do, hows the function. ?
local farm-fleet has a sale on them for $350 till the 28th.

I have one, I had it customized...
Paid $339. brand new, on a sale plus a 10 percent discount for purchasing "Birthday 10% coupon) at Edwards AFB Exchange. 2015ish?
Took it to my FFL dealer/Gun smith, said it was rusted inside from Manufacture, and he said it needed "work"
(I bought it new in the Box)
Now it is Match Grade+ and is so sweet!
I love 1911s
Got a few of them...

Somewhat back on track I have the Rock Island 1911 compact in .45ACP and a full frame in .22TCM. Both are very well made. The TCM is a blast to fire at night.

Regrets;
I traded a gun for a great hunting dog "Lab" puppy,
a Smith & Wesson 686/.357 6" with Pachmayr grip
de-burrded & trigger/action reworked, raised target sites etc.
custom from 'the Gun Dr.' in Milpitas Ca., he taught me a lot
he was a fellow member there, I worked as Rangemaster/helped ran
Target Masters Indoor Pistol range/private club, right after it was built
(My BIL was an owner)

that was a great dog "The Duke" (Black Lab, sired quite a few litters too)
I wish I had the gun, but I had 15 great years with Duke

sold a few others & usually replaced them with something else
I really don't like telling the public what I have or don't have
way too many Negative Nancy's out there with an ulterior agenda today

That is a great gun!
the LA County Sherrif's department carried them!

Everybody labels me as against guns, its not true and ive enjoyed reading all these posts. In the service we were a armored division. So as tankers they carried 45's. I shot them a few times at the range. They did kick and weren't all that accurate. Most of the arms with the exception of the M16 were older. Id say fifties era. I don't really know how old those 1911 where. I do know we had grease guns which also fire 45's but in my six years I never saw them used at the range.
Myself if I didn't live were I do id have a 38 short barrel S & W as home protection. If I need more than that im moving.
I also like older military rifles and would collect them.
I have a date coming up soon to go to the range and will fire my friends 357. I have not fired a weapon since the late seventies so im looking forward to that.
Right now firearms are not in the cards, maybe someday maybe not and maybe I will have to visit some of my out of state friends instead.

Hi SFSI (aka Steve),
You know?
IF ...IF you came out West and visited, we'd have a blast as I live in the Mojave Desert...(Yes Virginia, there is a desert or three in the United States) and we'd go Target Shooting!
You'd love it...
And later, some Cold Beers to chill with
Saturday morning (04-January) I have my Bi-annual Concealed Carry Weapons permit 4 hour class...
I get to shoot again!
Not much shooting lately as I have been busy

A .38 or a .357 (shoots .38 police special) is a great revolver!
