2 Mopars, or Not 2 Mopars

I think that if you can buy another one, and just put it away in dry safe storage until the first one is completed, then go for it, don't end up like me with 20 of them and the money to build gets spread so thin that very little gets accomplished on each one. When parts deals come up for a car that you are not currently building, ,you end up buying them, and it takes funding away from the one you are trying to build now. If I were to do it over again, I would do it differently. I sold nine of them in the last two years, but I bought four. I went over my current list,I have seven I would sell, seven more I may consider selling, and six I would keep.

Over the years, I've never had more than 2.
Ok maybe 3
I've wanted more, just the realization that the other one won't get the attention it needs. I'm down to 1, the 69 RR and there is always something to improve on. I've kept that one the longest- 28 yrs.
But..... if the right 67 Coronet R/T 4spd convertible comes up, maybe 2.......

The 1 car, I have now is enough, for now & my situation
I've had multiple collector/classic or hotrod/racecars etc. in the past
I had tons of $$ & space/warehouse & shop/much larger garage...
I don't have the room anymore, I have a little 20'x20' 2 car garage
& a couple covered carports
I won't keep my stuff parked outside in the weather
not the project/collector cars anyway
so if it doesn't fit in the garage or enclosed carports
I won't get it

I still want to do a few more cars
I want to do a 68-69 Dart GTS resto-mod
&/or 67-69 Barracuda resto-mod
or a D-100 68-71 Sweptside shortbed 'Dude' tribute resto-mod
right now the funds & especially the room isn't there...
I want to do a Daytona Cobra Coupe or GT40 replica too
just got no extra room & not enough funds "yet"
too much stuff going on, too many other things 1st
maybe after I get/eligible for my retirement slush funds or my S/S :poke:

only 1 for now,
some may consider one of my other vehicles 'a toy'
It is a MoPar
I do mess with my 99 Dakota SLT 4x4, as a project sort of
a bunch of bolt on performance stuff, 1.7:1 rockers, swirl spacer
& an air-box/gauze filter & intake tube, a DBII tuner, 3" cat-back etc.
But it's far more of a daily driver than a collector car/truck thou...

The problem I have? Buying is so much more enjoyable than selling. I sold my '69 RR when I picked up a '69 GTX 2 years back. So went from 4 to 3. And I find myself still looking at the "For sale" ads. I have an A,B and E body. Never owned a "C" body? Ummmmm!

Just looking for positives and negatives on owning multiple Mopars vs concentrating on one.

I don't see selling one as an option, yet, but there are definitely limitations, for me.

Positives; when they both work it's nice to have the option.
I don't care for car shows and trophies or shiny anymore.
Cruise-in and dirty works.
The kid loves them, and so do I.

Negatives; being broke basically, can only spend funds on one every so often, no way I can restore both.
I don't have the extra workspace anymore.
When they both are down it's the worst on many levels.
Also, a small part of me would like to make a Mopar nice, I did it with a few other cars but never a Mopar.
I always sold the shiny ones, once shiny.

Any input, advice, personal experiences are appreciated.

Once again, not looking to be convinced either way, just info on what people are doing and why.

Maybe I'm missing something I should consider?

I have 1 but would like to have another. They cost money and its tough to justify when Im raising my grandson ,its just us.I dont make alot of money but if a good deal came up I probably buy it.

One advantage is using the others as a reference when working on one. As I mentioned I have an A,B and E body muscle era Plymouths. Although very little can transfer from one to another. I have certainly looked at the Duster for example on ideas for the Cuda build.

If you are only going to have one, a 70 bee is a great one to have.

I have three 68 Charger R/T's and if I found another one that tripped my trigger, I'd buy it.

Yes, it's a disease.

I personally like B bodies the best. Especially for a street car. I have thought about building the GTX into some sort of Highway commando? Because it handles better at higher speeds. But it's tough pulling a perfectly working 400 horse 440 just because you want more power? That's my disease. The "It needs more!"

So many choices... I'd love to have one of each. I'm thrilled to have what I have. But, if I ever finish up what I have I want a big ol' C body. Then I would truly be King of the Road.
I drove around in a '70 Lincoln Town Car for a little while. Damn near drove me to drinkin'. (Joke, for the old timers).
I do like big American cars.
If I ever become wealthy I would drive around in a '70 Superbird, or maybe a '73 Imperial.
The new cars just don't do it for me.
The Holy Grail is a '69 1/2 Daytona Charger in race trim.

The more pole barns you have the more Mopars you need. I just shoved a Shelby Dakota outside yesterday with a For Sale sign to make room for one more.
Very true on building storage. I bought a 32' race trailer about 10 years back. I remember saying. "I don't need this much trailer for one car?" But when going to the track? That trailer is full.

I agree that its different for everyone, I am very fortunate as I have 2 40x60 shops, pretty much every tool I could need and a decent amount of time. What I don't have is a lot of money but I coming into it in spurts. For me its all about the build, I get them done and drive them a few times and move on. Its not that I don't want to drive them don't like driving them, its just more fun for me to build them. If I could find someone to pay me to build them I would. The other issue I have is that once I own them, I don't want to sell them; this is a carry over from my youth when I struggled a lot to keep even one, but then I had a very long separation from them while I was in the military and when I knew I was going to retire I wanted to get back into them, so I bought a 70 Challenger RT project car and its been down hill since... (or up hill depending on how you view it).

And of course a big Mopar truck to support the habit. '07 Cummins 6.7l 6-speed manual. (I always seem to forget about giving a shout out to the truck that keeps the toys alive.)

Fully loaded with trailer, car, tools and support equipment? About 24k lbs. It's funny how fully loaded approaches the limits of the truck, trailer and class c license. But it's all under by 700-1000 lbs. With no mishaps. "Knock on wood."

The truck (2nd) is the only Dodge I ever owned. I noticed years ago that all my Mopar's were Plymouths. So I stuck with that theme.

I'm down to 1 and thats how it's staying. Leaves me some money each year to take care of any improvements or maintenance......

I dont have the room for more than one car. I also like to do other things and not worry about not being able to afford it because I spend to much money on a hobby car. Like vacations and spoiling my G-kids
If you are in a good financial situation and have the room for more than one car, God Bless you.
If I hit the Mega id buy another house and build a big garage and id like a 68/69 Dart, a 65 GTO, C2 Corvette and a 48 CJ2A

The hardest thing I have found is keeping everything running and driving. Thats a never ending battle! But cant just have one Mopar!

I think I forgot about other things to spend money on, and do with your time, but at the same time knew it, you know what I mean.

In 2017 I had 2 cars, sold one that I had for 20 years. I loved the space I had freed up in my tiny garage.
Then I bought 2 cars the same day!
Sold one, bought another, sold another.

At one point I took down a wall in my garage to fit three cars in a 2 car garage.

Now I have no space to do anything.

I think I realized one of my biggest mistakes was not heating and insulating the garage. In the NE, you loose 6 months every year.
Even on a decent day like yesterday, it was about 40, but everything in the garage, tools, car, garage floor, is still negative 20 degrees.

This is zero room, but cars:
