I have got to get this car going this year. Things are smoothing out financially and I have sold some things to address the carb issues I've had.

So here is the question... do I send the carbs to ProMax to get repaired and gone through or buy new ones?

I'm leaning towards sending them in.

Engine is 440 30 over. 509 cam. Around 11:1 CR. Not sure exactly what though. Heads have been ported with larger valves. Edelbrock aluminum intake.

@biomedtechguy Please chime in on this as you recently had yours done by them.

Anybody else that's sent carbs to them, please speak up. I don't want to screw this up. Lol

Any and all suggestions and comments are needed.

is this a matching numbers carb? what size did I miss the info? If I could afford a new one thats the route I would go.

Questions.....
Is the carb original? If so, are you trying to get it to do something it's not really made for? One day, maybe years from now you will be looking for an original replacement.
If it's "correct" put it away and buy one built for your particular application. Modern carbs are light years from oem. But the money's in originality if u ever decide to part with her.
Enjoy

Are we perchance talking sixpack carbs? Jegs gets about $1800 for new. I would rebuild mine first, than if that doesn't work, i would send them to a pro, especially if they are correct/number and date matching.
I put three rebuild kits in mine, along with two new secondary diaphragms, and i had none of the tuning problems others seem to have. Just lucky i guess. I followed the mopar engine manual as closely as i could.

I got a Summit complete Six Pack set up locally that had about 800 miles on it. The guy never could get it running right. I sent the carbs off for rebuild and he said they should all be gone through anyway as they are not correct from factory. Just an opinion.

If we’re talking six pack carbs send them to Scott Harms

Sorry. Yes it's a six pack. No, they are not original. I have tried to do a rebuild a couple times. The plates on the outboards have been drilled out. One of the baseplates needs machined as the ?throttle shaft? that goes through is wallored out and causes a leak. I figured that I'd be better off letting a pro go through and fix what needs fixed, repaired, or replaced.

I want to keep the six pack setup on the car and I don't have enough money to do the fuel injection six pack lookalike.

I've been fighting issues with these for a long time now. It was suggested to either get new or send off. So, now that I've got the money to do it, I'm going to do something so this car doesn't continue to sit.

Compare dollar for dollar but having them done by promax will get you better carbs

I’m a couple hours up the road and would be glad to help. I have plenty of six pack and tri power customers.

440...509 cam...

Well I wanted them to install their angled idle mixture screws throttle plate base on the rear carb, needed one accelerator pump housing screw hole fixed on the center carb, metering block, and jetable metering plates, go through all 3, and use the correct rebuild kit(s) if needed.
Easy decision for me, sent them to Promax.
If their story about their dyno mule is true, it is "similar" to our engines, as we both have the .509 cam, and so does their dyno mule. I had them "pre-tune" the carbs, and if not for the DAMN braid clippings in the lines from me not flushing out the new Promax braided upper and lower fuel lines, they probably didn't need any/much tuning to run right.
They took a little longer than I would have liked, but did get them finished and back to me in time for Cruisin the Coast. Ben isn't especially good about communicating via email or phone, at least until he's finished with the work.
In a way, I don't blame him because he is swamped, but better communication would have been nice.
I would use them again if the occasion dictated, but only if I wasn't in a hurry to get them back.
