New guy around here. Thanks for all of the past posts - there is a ton of great info on the site!

We were lucky enough to come across a 1963 Dodge 330 426 Wedge High Compression car from a great local gentleman. He has had the car for quite a few years tucked away in his private collection. The car shows on 1289 miles. Looking forward to uncovering / confirming some of the history of the car.

Thanks for reading!

hope to see more pics and welcome to the site.

Welcome from a fellow 63 owner. We are going to need LOTS more pics and info on that beauty. Good luck.

:welcome: from the foothills of NE Tennessee!
(I'll be the first to admit I had no idea what your thread title meant. Too many abbreviations. :))

Welcome from Michigan, the Motor City! 440'

Welcome to The Site ! Definitely NEED some more pics of that '63, along with details, and wondering if it's a Original Survivor ?

Thanks for the warm welcome!

The car has had an interesting past for sure. All of the numbers (Vin / rad support / package tray) appear to check with Darrell Davis’s books and it has had some magazine articles written on it in the late 90’s the last time it was really out and about. One of the articles claim it could have been part of the Candymatic program but I would never represent it that way unless it could someday be proven. We do hope to one day uncover some of the cars history.

What we know is the car left the factory in late ‘62 and went to North Carolina (we are waiting on the IBM card to verify the dealer). Since the lightweight (aluminum) front end wasn't an option yet it must have been added sometime after. I read on this site that front end kits were sent to buyers of the high compression cars to meet the NHRA minimum numbers. So if that is true that may be how it ended up with the front end. Appears the original matching motor is gone but a correct replacement is installed. Here are couple more pictures - not to many options checked.

they also moved the battery to the trunk the battery where up front till the lt wt package cars came out in march 63 what a great car i think i have a hard cover book with it in i will have to look for it

Thanks early2drsedan! We are grateful to have found it - its a cool piece of history.

Thanks for the information on the battery - its interesting to know the differences of how it left the factory and how it presents today.

It is listed in Darrell Davis book as a 99 car (Engine code 9 / compression ratio 9). He had me check the rad support and package tray numbers and he verified they matched which was a relief.

We believe it to be the car pictured in the Chrysler Chronicles (painted licence plate matched the picture) but of course no way to prove it.

The broadcast sheet appears to be long gone which is a bummer but we contacted Danielle at the historical society to get the IBM card to try and track down the selling dealer and hopefully shed some light on its early years. The selling dealer code is 53793 but we can not find the corresponding name.

Thanks for the information!!

I'm sure you know who Jim Kramer is being from the Pittsburgh area.Kramer Automotive. He may know the car and it's background.

Darter6 - thanks for the suggestion. The gentleman we purchased the car from knows Jim well. I have a call into them about a few other parts - hopefully he can shed some light on it.

I'm not sure if your car has the ash tray located in the rear of the Driver's half of the bench, but that's where I found 1 of the 2 sheets in my '63...
