Think at one time Chevy guy owned my bee

I wish it was restricted to brand X people but I have seen/known a number of Mopar guys who happily painted their engine compartments black; gloss black, satin black, flat black, etc... I once had a guy at a car show tell me that they "all" were that way... I looked around a bit confused, but he quickly stated that he knew this to be a fact because the radiator support was painted black behind the grille.... I had no words..

deep down they were Chevy guys:lol:

Pretty common. Our Belvedere was also Chevyized sometime before we bought it. :realcrazy:

A idiot owned my 68 Coronet R/T before me, all sorts of wiring issues and non-working gauges and about a 1" hole in the firewall with a multitude of wires and lines for aftermarket gauges. I'm amazed that it cranks and runs. As soon as I get all the parts and harness to correct it will be restored.

My friends 69 Roadrunner was black under the hood as well. But he didnt want to pull the engine at the time he had it painted. fair enough. But now he wishes he had. First thing I did to the Belle was go buy 80 dollars worth of rattle can paint in the correct color to paint under the hood area. I was in a hurry to get my 440 off the stand so I could make room in my garage. Also the Belle I got from Jerry was black under the hood.. Thats why I painted it the correct light turquoise.

Well, years ago it was no big deal. People were not so concerned with "correctness". In 1980, I bought a 69 Coronet R/T less engine and trans for $50. I made it into a very fun driver that I enjoyed for a few years. I still regret selling it today!. Anyway, it was a good body, but the car was originally gold. During it's life it had been repainted some ugly blue, and then repainted again to a F6 type green color. As you can imagine, it was like an ugly rainbow under the hood. I happily painted under hood things gloss black when the car was in primer, as i did not know what color I would decide to paint it. A year or so later, I painted the car white, so the black worked out well for me. And to really upset you correct guys, remember that correct and repro MOPAR things were not readily available in the early 1980's. Including the correct orange engine paint. So want to guess what color orange my 440 wore?? :D

tell us you didn’t paint a 440 chevy orange:wtf:

I'm not gonna black out my radiator support on the one I'm doing know..I want to piss all the purist off...:carrot:
