I was lurking in the a bodies forum, reading about ink junkies struggles with back pain, and his new experimental back stimulator device. Suddenly, as I reached the bottom of the post, not anything I had contributed to you understand, an add for a Nevada pain clinic shows up. This is the absolute first time ANY add for pain has showed up, plus they know where I am by the fact that it is a nearby clinic, not from, say, Wisconsin or Florida. This kind of crap bugs me, and this isn't the first time this kind of **** has happened either!
Does this bug anybody else? I am totally computer inept, or I might try to do something about it. Except I like you tube too much.

here's a screenshot of the add on my phone right now

Google can read my mind and knows my political affiliation without me clicking on one single related topic

An ad blocker is the answer. I never go without one.
For example, this very page on FBBO has at least 27 ad-based items on it that my blocker
has stopped while I'm typing this....
I'm currently using AdGuard, but there's several good ones out there.

I believe you told me about AdGuard. I really like it. Besides the occasional update alert you don't even know it's there. It's really nice not getting any pop up adds or any scam adds. That "Congratulations" one was driving me nuts.

As far as G@@gle goes, they are the Gestapo of the US. They get into everything you do. You have to block them from your emails, gps, sites you visit, everything. Then after awhile I'll find my settings get changed and they are not being blocked anymore. And when they are called out on it they say they are only doing research.

Googe was even trying to and succeeded to a certain point in manipulating the last election. They'll deny it.

Google is amazing. It seems as though they can read your mind. It doesn’t really bother me all that much. I don’t really have that many valuable thoughts. I’d rather stuff popped up that could be relevant than all the other totally irrelevant stuff that would pop up otherwise.

Supposedly in CA as of the 1st of January we can deny companies from following us. New legislation. They figure most people will probably just let it go. I probably won’t bother with it.

Run Mozilla Firefox use Ghostery, Privacy Badger,Duck Duck Go,Adblocker Ultimate and SafeGuard add-ons and you are a ghost to the web.

Forget Google ... its the scammers that get me. So over the holidays I shopped at Costco, Walmart, Amazon, shipped with Canada Post, used Paypal and recently flew on Air Canada. I received "offers of rewards" for every single one of these companies and a few more (scammers of course). They often arrive together on the same day (a blitz obviously), have bogus "from" email addresses and they all want you to click on a box to retrieve your prize. And they don't give up - I keep getting them.

Having limits on bandwidth per month you know after exceeding an allotted amount pay more, I find video clips opening automatically much more than I remember happening. Click on an article just to 'read' and an accompanying or embedded video starts playing chewing on the allotment. Wonder why google and others make so much ******* money - charge for the internet connection and get deluged with ads that follow you. Just ain't right.

there is a file out there on everyone
it makes you think who has access to this information.
I can't type anymore on the subject or this will turn political
but I will say
We were so willing to have a nanny state shield us from terrorists, that we stepped into the cage, shut the door, and gave them the key.
not to destroy the thread
if you want to learn more about surveillance of the public
go over to the crowdstrike thread in the political forum...
Information, at least in any digital form, is no longer private.
