looking for a locking ventless cap that fits under a 68 charger flip top filler, thanks, Don.

Does your cap have that spring loaded cap type thing under it? If so, wouldn't you have to remove that to install any type of cap up the flip top piece? Just curious as mine has a spring loaded cap type thing under the lid with a rubber gasket that looks like it would have to be removed unless you can find one like this??? I have never seen this until searching for these images. Interesting.....

No...the unit fits in the opening flush...

They come up on Ebay once and awhile....they are rare and not cheap

I bought mine from Laysons a few years ago. They are Re-pos but work and fit like original. The price has been going up on them but still not as expensive as NOS.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Holy sheeeeite muslim that's crazy for a non essential part....YIKES!
Yes it is but I owned one of these cars back when they were new. That flip top gas filler attracts a lot of unwanted attention. Someone put a couple handfuls of sand in mine back in 68. After getting stranded with a clogged fuel sock and seeing sand inside the filler area, I figured it out but it still required a tow job, dropping the tank and a half day chore I didn't need. That makes it cheap and essential for me in today's world.

You never know when you got a charger somebody may want to put something in your tank out of jealousy. I bought one w/ the original box for my car. Anything under 150 is fair for an original.

ya definatley pricy, required at cobo hall, or tank needs be drained and sealed somehow so just getting some feelers out there. I looked at laysons i did not see anything, classic industries has them on backorder, so who knows how long it will be before they come in. they are listed for $109.00 I emailed them several days ago haven't heard back yet.

that seems to be the norm as we age, 100 bucks doesn't go very far in todays world

Rick@Laysons is on this site. He can tell you if they still sell them. Send him a PM

Ahh, Frank Mitchell's old stock....

Years ago, took me 6 months to get a refund on a "mis-described" part.
An old aftermarket part can be new, but that doesn't mean it's NOS MoPar.
I just posted an ad from a vendor I support and have zero issues with.......They have always been supportive and honest.....

Can you point out exactly what makes this new and not NOS/later superseded part?

I looked at the ebay ad and the vendor is selling Franks old stock of this gas cap lock.
End of story on that comment.

Years ago, I got a run around from Frank himself on an NOS MoPar parking brake cable.
He shipped me an over the counter, plastic coated, cable.
Don't remember the brand name... Wagner maybe??
I paid big bucks for NOS and got a 20 buck cable!

Long story short, I got my money back, in person, at the MoPar Nationals.
Last time I dealt with Mitchell Motor Parts.

So you're relating the current owner to the previous owner?...You don't even know them.......I knew FM and I know of many issues but dang man you wrote off the new owners based on a guy thats dead...Who does that? Especially, when you have done ZERO business with the new owners....

You're end of story comment is that you don't know..If you do than state the exact specifics of that part that are not legit...you are just basing that off off your previous experience under a different owner.....Yes, they did buy Frank's parts and many others. When I dealt with them they STATED up front what the part is and they also stated if not happy with it send it back....I had one part that was correct but had a blemish on that part and they gave zero question and a full refund....

My parking brake cable story and the NOS locking cap that's for sale have nothing to do with each other. The NORS cable FM sold me was represented as NOS MoPar ORIGINAL, when it was NOT.
I have bought parts from the new owners a few years ago and had no issues.

used larson for this duster mod , a candy bar down the gas neck cost this guy a 340 engine . lock on the gas cap was worth 7k to him .

damn, thought it was an inconvience to find one of these, but after hearing some of these horror stories it might be a blessing
