I have heard there are places that do it. Car only came w/ 50 to 60 amp alt. Have added a larger one , 90 amps. But if I want to use there electric water pump and aux. radiator fans, they showed it near pegged with the other draws the car needs. So went back to mechanical stuff. Making it more street friendly. Will up grade wiring harness ( stock one but with upgraded firewall connector, and add a second fuse box to use for all after market stuff in the car and added to. So before ordering the harness want to use the stock gauge as a volt meter. Can even say D - C. If possible to have it set so 12 V is about Center. Thanks Jerry Horn

Redline Gauge Works has converted many for me.Some of the cars were up-graded to 100+ amp systems.

Thanks but think I want to kill the amp gauge to volts, smaller gauge wire needed and easier to "feed" the accessories. But I did already contact them with what I wanted done. Keep ya posted as to their reply. Jerry

Shannon at Redline has done several amp to volt gauge conversions for me. I do that along with the MAD wiring modification. You will definitely want to make the wire going from the alternator to the start relay bigger. Probably to a #8. The original wire was a #12 along with a 37 amp alternator if it was a non ac car.

Mopar Muscle did a short article on the rewire in April 2019 issue. But everyone just by passes the amp gauge, I would like to turn it into a volt gauge. By the way they used no. 6 Wire.

Here is a pic of my current project with the new volt meter instead of the amp gauge. Guess it would help if you posted what car you are working on. #6 wire from the alt to the bulkhead fusible link is what your car came with from the factory?

Negative that was the gauge of wire that was used in the rewire done by Mopar muscle magazine. I am doing this on our 66 Satellite they are the small and rectangle gauges. So if no one can do it by converting ( using the O.E gauge itself) , I will try and build my own dash cluster, then stand back and look at it saying " you freak'n idiot. that's really ugly" Then have a custom replacement done. At the same time move some of the gauges from the cage bars into the dash. There is no hurry as I can always do the rewire, by pass the amp meter, so car is done ( want to up grade the hood and body harness any way). and do dash stuff later. Which is why when we think we want to sell we keep it ( explained elsewhere on this site). PS: does anyone else have trouble with the WRX clowns who think there cars are quick?
