Coolant in fuel

Damn @Roger63 I am sorry for your horrible luck. I really hope that you get this BS straightened out soon. I don't know if it will help you, but I called KW corporate when I was dealing with my fuel pressure issues and I was able to speak to the KW rep for my region. He made a lot of things happen in a hurry. Might help you as well.

Thanks Paul but I got a Cummins rep working for me. I just have to let it play out.

Question Roger did they pull the codes from the engine. Also when they found the first head leaking what did they do with it.

Sorry just saw your question. The only code that came up was water in fuel. Till the DPF started getting plugged, then it only said regen to frequent.

So after a long week of threats and haggling over warranty. The shop that done the original head replacement has agreed to replace at no charge my head.

Good for you Roger now ask for them to prove the new head was bad. Should be simple for them to do. Also ask them about paying for tank cleaning etc. It's all back by the factory warranty. I know it been a bitch just to get this done but don't let up. You are the one that has lost money out of your pocket. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Not place to suggest this but just tired of seeing all you guys busting ***. Sorry if out of line good luck roger

Just one more thing after the new install have them do a fuel pressure leak down.

Ok another update. Per Bearmans suggestion I did have a fuel pressure leak down test performed and it passed. Picked the truck up today with a little free time while my wife was sleeping in the hospital. Got the new head replaced with no argument or cost. But alas the story hasn't ended yet. 2 days prior I get a call. My turbo was also leaking coolant past the seal into hot side only. Plus a water pump front structure seal, anyway another 10k lol

Damn Roger, you could've done a Platinum overhaul with all of the money that you have spent. I hope this is the last of it for a while. My prayers for your wife my friend.

Thanks don't I know it lol

roger hope the wife is doing okay. damn sorry for your troubles and thats alot of bank but these parts are going to get more expensive. please watch your coolant package specially if its long life. just had a isx cummins in the shop and it had a coolant leak from a hose. took it apart to repair it and the inside looked like someone was pouring acid in the coolant system. check the additive package and it was only good to 30 above when it should have been at 32 below. so ended up changing all the hoses and flushing the radiator. not a real fan of long life coolant it will take out seals in water pumps etc. but anyways now to go make some money good luck and again wife in prays.

Thanks for the well wishes, the coolant is something I don't take for granted.

Hopefully this is the last update for a long time. I got the truck back last Thursday. Didn't have time to deal with it due to my wife's surgery recovery . She came home from the hospital on Saturday . Monday I go ut to take a look and damn another code. I get it to the shop and it's a sensor. No big deal she is finally done, I also got word today that my last head failed the pressure test so one I have now won't cost me anymore money.

Resarecting this thread so I didn't have to start a new one. Back in for my annual visit to the shop, this time it's the lower end of the high pressure fuel pump. Its gonna take a new pump and rods and main bearings plus an oil cooler. God I love these trucks.

Welcome to emission control and junk parts. Sorry for your problems wish for the days of real parts and a warranty that they would stand with. I'm finding out that the coolant packages are needed to be watched closely. We switched over to the long life then started having hose issues and lost trans cooler. But I can't prove anything yet. Good luck

Thanks it looks like it took out the lower end of the motor. #1 main bearing has grooves in it and metal all through the pan.

Sorry to hear that Roger. Is it still under warranty? I was in Kenworth of Pennsylvania last month. Turbo wasn't winding down properly, causing the EGR valve to stick open. Cummins replaced the Turbo and so far, so good. Cost me 3 days in a crappy hotel and lost a costly load. Damn I miss the days of mechanical engines and no computer BS.
