Looking to purchase some Cragar S/S wheels and tires for my 69 Runner. Anyone have some pics of what rear tire sizes look like on stock suspension?. I may install S/S springs later, but prefer not to use air shocks. I'm thinking 15 x 8 on the rears but with what tire size??. I will be using either 15 x 6 on the fronts with 215/75/15 tires, or 15 x 4's for that race car look.
I love the old Cragar S/S wheels...its only taken me 50 years to finally spring for a set, lol..

Rears on both cars are 15x8 with 255/60r15. Front on Q5 car is 15x7 with 215/70r15, front on yellow car is also 15x7 with 245/60r15. Both cars have hemi rear leafs. There’s plenty of room for a 275/60r15 on the rear. 10” wheels with the right backspacing should also probably fit no problem

Be aware of the backspace on Cragar ss. The old "deep dish" cragar had too little backspace (the "deep" dish) and as a result you couldn't get much tire on them .
The generally accepted bs here for runners is 4.5 for a 8-8.5 wheel. A bigger backspace number moves the tire closer to the springs. I have had 10.5 slicks, roughly the same size as 295x65 , on my completely stock suspension 69 rr, on a 15x8.5 wheel with 4.875 backspace, but it was tight to the spring.
What is nice about too much backspace is you can adjust where the tire ends up with spacers, with too little backspace , the tires rub on the fenders.

15x7s all around 235-70s in front, 275-60s in rear.

Looking back, I would go 15x8s in the rear

I have 275/60-15's on 8" Cragars on the back of mine. They fit fine inside the wheel well without lifting the car.

I have 15x8 with 4.5"BS with 275.60.15 on rear with 15x6 with 225.70.15 on front, rear is factory stock ride height with pleanty of room.

295/50 on 15x8 4.5" backspace rear
235 60 on 15x7 4.5" backspace front
Only picture I have of a side profile... does not do it justice as the rear is up on rollers. I liked this look better than the 275 rear, fatter tire. BUT you do have to drop the front 1/2" to get the same rake as a 275/ 225 combo.

My RR. 275/60/15 on 8" in the rear and 225/70/15 on 7" on the front.

My GTX has always had my much loved Cragar SS wheels on it. 15x8 in the back, 15x6 in the front. Back tires are L60s. As was stated watch the back spacing you order. It will make a difference in what you can fit under the wheel wells.
