Barrett Jackson Now

That 69 Charger, red like the other one we posted about, but this one had red paint that absolutely looked liquid and beautiful! The 318 was yanked out and a 440 based 512 stroker:bananadance: (440 Source kit) was under the hood. "Hemi" torsion bars, and I'd tell y'all more, but Barrett-Jackson auctions and announcers SUCK for audiences! What rear axle? What transmission?
Regardless, WHAT A DEAL FOR THE BUYER!
Look! $27k!!

That's the one I was referring to. Thanks

Just don't understand the Charger prices here... 69 Runner just went through for $51k, was the one Chris J previewed and was a pretty nice Runner! I don't think Molars have lost popularity...
68 RT BB 4Spd for $38? Others under $30??? If you were looking for a nice Charger Scottsdale is where to go! Like others have said you see that bucket donor cars approaching $20k
I didn't see the blog number when the one I referenced went through...

Here is the car I was referring too.

$38k? Good price IMO

Yes. The 2nd red one, 512 replaced the 318 was much nicer looking paint. $27k so $11k less...So the not as nice looking red and white one, that I'll say was sold at a "fair" price at $38k, was a factory 440 4 speed, but I would have rather had the much cleaner, shinier 512 Charger, IF it had a manual transmission. For investment the real 440 4 speed was worth the extra 10k IMO, but for a great, stunning, FUN car, hands down the 512!
My 70 V-code Roadrunner has a 71 440 built to "V-code specs" so not a #s drivetrain, but that gives me the latitude I want to make it like I want it, as long as I don't carve it up (although mini tubs may happen) leaf spring mount relocation may happen. It will always have that "V" in the VIN though, and that still adds value, IMO.

Watched a B3 69 roadrunner 383 car go for 51 or 52k (can't remember for sure) last night. It all depends on who is there and how bad they want it. It was a nice car but not THAT nice

I think you take a huge risk buying a Mopar today without putting your hands and eyeballs on it. Some of those Chargers that sold at a lower $ could be for a reason. Some of these "restorations" are nothing more than lipstick on a pig. Remember, most of those bids are from people like us that got to get up close and personal with the cars... But hey it's worth what someone is willing to pay, right?

Ya , it just struck me as odd... those cars looked pretty nice from where I was sitting but I'm sure the players had an up close look before bidding...still seemed like a good deal.
I definitely liked the one with the 512! I don't think the Mopar bubble has necessarily burst ( maybe just adjusted) as there were Challengers, RRs and others exceeding the $50k mark.

The red with white charger was a good 20 foot car. It had its fair share of Nicks and chips in the paint. The killer was there was no Fender tag present and not one ounce of paperwork.

Look next to the dudes right shoulder...fuel filter and lines hanging way down...what kind of build is this??? It would have me scared just seeing that!!! I noticed that as soon as it rolled up...then the camera went down the side and you could see it hanging there....no thanks.

Dr V is right on with his analogy. I sold an AMX there a few years ago and can tell you there is a lot of crap that goes thru. I think what you are seeing now is (a little late to the party) lipstick on a pig flippers or someone who got screwed on a previous auction buy, reselling it. We all know building and selling these cars is not a money maker and the auction block is no exception.

Ya Richard Rawlings finally figured that out... You don't see him sending high dollar builds to auction anymore!!!

I saw that too and the first thing I thought was what else was done half assed that you can't see, no wonder it was cheap.

Yes, I saw that too! Who knows, maybe that was the worst part of the job done on the car? I understand your concerns!

I am just a poor boy but I would hate to have $30-50,000 is a done car I bought without seeing or doing all the work from bare metal on! Scares me.

I think those big $$ car auction are scarier than a low end horse auction!!

What year model RR? Interior color? Bench or bucket seats? Stripes and color?
Pix?
68 RR Black/black, bench seat, decor package, AM radio. 3:54 dana. No stripes.
All my pictures of that car are on a crashed computer. I have about 3 of those that I need to pull the hard drives on and get all my data together.
