Fiat- Chrysler Peugeot merge.

Like I said in another post. Most everything is now out of the US in one way or another. And I doubt it will ever come back. Ma has really been owned outside for years. Kids it isn't our world anymore. Another generation or two and we wont fit in at all with the things we believe in or do. I guess now I know how my pop felt when he told me he was ready to check out. And he has been gone for a long time.

Worked GM for 12 yrs,Cjpd,Chry,JeepPlymouth ,Dodge
for 16yrs.
saw lots of changes over the yrs.,some good some
bad.
The last few yrs with Chry.were bad because of
Fiat. Not a good thing as far as quality.

Read somewhere that automakers buy crap like that to improve CAFE numbers so they can make real cars. Also. That FCAP had to pay Tesla for some kind of carbon credit bullshit. Maybe I got it wrong. If found I’ll post it.

How does Fiat Stay in business their cars where crap 25 years ago and the 500 is still crap.

I happen to be dealing this week with someone selling a 2004 Peugeot 206 CC convertible 1.6L four-speed automatic (58,000 miles asking $2,777.00 USD). It reminds me of one of my first cars, a 1970 Porsche 914 1.6L five-speed.

The Ram, The Jeep division and the hemi car critters are all profitable cash cows for them.
They're also all uniquely American-based engineering and design, no matter where final assembly
takes place.
The overlords aren't gonna screw with those as long as it remains that way.

Don't count on that!

allegedly
to become the 4th largest automotive group,
in the world

I wonder what SRT, Dodge, Chrysler or even Ram (that concerns me)
are in their plans
everyone wanted to get their hands on Jeep brand
huge upside to own Jeep now

a French & Italian (American partial/minority control) car company scares me
an American/Italian car co. was bad enough

Ol' Chrysler Corp. has been in bed with so damn many other countries
automotive ownership, starting back in the late 70 govt. control
or bailed out in the 80's, with Frank Sinatra's financial group
90's with Lambo, 2000's with Daimler/Mercedes,
then current Fiat/Ferrari of late LCA
or something along them lines dates
nothing surprises me anymore

always seem to survive in some faction

I think they the French will screw up and mess with these good brands.
The French are involved with this deal because they want another crack at the US market,
the most prolific on the planet.
They're not allergic to profits, either. As long as these brands do well, they'll be fine with it.

The culture of The French business model is what is a disaster for our way of doing business. The germans wanted to rob all the cash chrysler had and they did. The French will lay back on their hands cut costs and stop innovation.

It was during those late 70's financial problems that Peugeot originally bought out Chrysler's European divisions (Rootes, Barreiros and Simca). Now they've got the rest.

It's not been that long ago the same "sky is falling" opinions flew about the industry when Fiat acquired them.
Instead, we saw world-class innovations in the Rams. Ridiculous HP production out of Dodge's cars.
Revamping of the Jeep line including the re-introduction of a Jeep pickup.
Let the Europeans play with little cars and electrics and such; they know what they're getting into with our
big ol' rides and they'd be damn fools to mess with any of it, since it generates cash flow they need.

I reckon we'll find out either way soon enough....but nobody knows but them right now.

In the 80's there was a Chrysler, Plymouth, Peugeot dealer near my house in NJ. This is nothing new, they have been tied together for years. Unfortunately.
