My father used to sell Plymouths back in the day. When I was 15 years old he brought home a 'demonstrator' (for you younger people, dealerships used to give their salesmen cars to drive and called them 'demonstrators'). One car he brought home was a '67 HEMI GTX. It was Medium Copper Poly and it was gorgeous. It was then I fell in love with MOPARS. 40 years ago I found a '66 Belvedere 2dr HT sitting beside a garage in Sarasota FL. I purchased it from a very nice older lady who was the original owner. 37,000 miles on it. And from that time on it has sat in my garage waiting to be brought back to life. Rusted in the usual places, even for a Florida car, and in need of some mechanical repairs. I had always planned to fix and drive it but life got in the way. Putting kids through school and such. A couple years ago I decide it was finally time, before it was too late. That's when I discovered FBBO. It's common knowledge that car people are great. But MOPAR people are special. All the things the MOPAR faithful have to endure, lack of aftermarket products, higher prices for what is out there, and in many cases no speed parts for the POLY, hell, AMD won't even stamp out the greatly needed '66/'67 quarters. But still, you MOPAR lovers trudge forward, helping others when you can, and providing moral support when you can't.
I have a close friend who lives Chevrolet - he built a beautiful '55 HT - and he's continually after me to abandon MOPAR and get into something 'less expensive' to build and maintain. What's the old saying, 'if I have to explain it you wouldn't understand.'
I am proud to be part of the MOPAR community, not so much because of the cars, but because of the people. I have received so much help and encouragement from those of you here on FBBO. You've taken my calls, posted much needed input and information and directed me to the important places and people I need to finish this car. You are truly special people... MOPAR people. And I thank you.

If you compare a big block Chebby to a big block MOPAR or even the HEMI,the cost difference is in the heads and valvetrain. Different stroke for different folks,,,,,but in our case bigger stroke for more POWER!!!

When people that own cars manufactured from "the others", I always remind them of certain historical events.....Nascar has never put rules in place to limit Ford or Chevy from running a certain engine in Nascar because of dominance....all top fuel and funny cars run an engine based off of a Mopar engine...and a Mopar has several records tied to the new Demon....Mic drop!!! Enough said....I rest my case...Oh...and there is always this...
