Anyone have a bare steel wheel 15" x 3-1/2" or 4" to weigh?

The 'used' plain drum is the original one from my 65 Belvedere. I got the car with 60,000 original miles and I am fairly certain the drums are original. I did look into the GM aluminum drums, but they couldn't be adapted for use with the Mopar brakes (GM are 9.5 dia).
turning down the brake rotors would only be to the minimum indicated on the rotor itself. It isn't a whole lot of difference (a tenth of an inch or so).
rotors with 'cooling holes' save about a half pound over stock replacement rotors.
Correct. The GM brakes system and backing plates would have to be used with aluminum GM drums.

Yes, they did make narrower wheels back in the 40's and 50's. I had a pair long, long ago from a '41 Plymouth or something. They had these funny looking snap type brackets for some kind of a hub cap.

I'm referring to fairly recent standard wheels that have been custom narrowed to a 3"-1/2 or 4"
To break the news, I now have probably the first pair of Bogarts "Steel" look alike aluminum wheels that weighs 17 Lbs bare. Attached below.
I want to check if that number makes the wheel worth while against a real steel wheel.

I've contacted several wheel manufacturers about making me a pair of 15" -4½" and 15" -10" stock looking aluminium wheels that will accept a '65 Plymouth 10" hub cap. Center Wheel came close to what I want but had issues with the required off sets. If you don't mind me asking, was Bogart's reasonable? Did they build the off set you wanted?

Bogart pretty much made the off set that they had in hand. These are only the front runner wheels, so I figured those kind of wheels and clearances are more or less relaxed. The rears a whole different animal. I held off on the rears simply because I want to make sure that the front ones are to my tolerances.
Without getting into numbers here as far as these wheels, they go for about $500 and change for each wheel.
There's more info that I'd like to share, but I first want to get all the dots connected on weights, fitment etc. before I can answer thoroughly. They are beautiful though with a powder coated gloss finish.

My rear wheels (Centerlines auto drags) are super light and look stock ( with the help of a special hub cap to hide the rivets ) to a naked eye streak across the hull of this ship.

Hmmm $500 a wheel , sounds like a good deal.
Coker makes 15 x 4 steel wheels , in big bolt , small bolt and cop style. I have a pair of the 15 x 4 cop wheels for sale. These wheels are not cheap , but a good bit cheaper than $500 a wheel.

Yeah, not so cheap, but not crazy expensive either. They are beautiful once mounted with tires and installed. I will have real world weight numbers and pictures in a couple of days or sooner. A full picture gallery will show y'all the differences in the wheels. The powder coat gloss black finish is a must. It's like glass.
I'll leave y'all to be the judges on the final look.

Yep, everything is relative. I've got $300 each wheel and tire on the front,$600 each w and t on the rear, but I'm cheap. An acquaintance had over a grand in the tires on his hellcat , mounted on a set of four Forgelines, at $1200 a piece. Sold that car.

Bought a demon.

Man, if I had a 2018 Demon, it would have a set of lightweight black rims on all corners. Not to mention that I would go through the whole thing and extract every sleeping ounce out of it while keeping a stock look.

Oh it is SO easy to spend big money on wheels and tires now. Lightweight billet fronts $4-500 each,$2-250 for frontrunners , $4-500 each for ordinary wide rears, $1000 to $1500 for double beadlocks, and an easy $350 each for fat slicks or et streets. So... what, five grand for rolling stock on a fast car? More than I want to spend!

A car is not only judged by the sneakers it wears, but by how it performs with them. After all is said and done, the most important part of any combo is what type of items actually touch the ground.

So with what you all have said about the cost of wheels , is $220.00 a wheel for a custom made steel wheel , that will accept the correct 10 inch dogdish cap , too expensive ???

I did not think hub caps were allowed on the track anyway. But agree this is foolish money.

$220 is not a lot of money for a wheel, but if the wheel is going to hamper performance, then perhaps a rethink should be noted. If it's only for the looks, then go for it.

Depends upon the track , as far as running dogdish caps.
So you are saying $220 per steel wheel is too expensive ??
Seems like Tony's Parts was selling the 450 wheel for $249 each , that was just a 15 x 7 wheel.

Here they are Guys and Gals.
Though they came in at 35 Lbs with a 4 ply silver town Firestone pie cutter tire, compared to the same tire on a set of centerline stealth rims that weighed 33 Lbs, they're still lighter compared to a regular steel rim and tire combo. This set up can be even lighter with a pair of 2 ply Moroso Drag Specials which should cut the weight down about 7 Lbs. In either case they look the part and I'll live with them.

I'm running the same Silvertown's 710-15 on a 15"x5" steel wheel. Guess I'll weigh one for comparison.
