Roadkill Zip Tie Drags 2020

Thanks for bringing it up at the meeting. It sounds like a good time. Plan to put my 73 Charger on the track. I wonder how they qualify a $3000 hooptie?
the biggest hurdle will be the crowd vote.
if they vote you out as being too expensive, then you are done before youve started.
most 2 doors are gonna be overvalued by the crowd right away....

Read the rules well.. No cracked glass. I e-mailed them and was told stone chips are ok.
But my car doesn't have a reverse lock out and it is required. If I go I have to change my automatic shifter for one that does.

Well Paul, don’t know much about the drags other than you’ll be lucky to get 2 hits during the weekend. That 3k draws everybody and their brother. I’m just going to hang at the car show, don’t really care about the Road Kill celeb stuff. Let the younger guys and gals deal with that.

Ok the day has come. I didnt get the Coronet finished to roadtrip for this event but its all good. We leave in a couple hours from Canyon Lake, Tx for Las Cruces, Nm today and Tucson tomorrow. Would love to meet up with as many people as I can. Toss me a PM and I'll send you my cell #.

I will be running the 73. Forum members stop by and say Hi.

All I have is a motorcycle half helmet. I am going to bring it just in case by some miracle, I break 13.9.

PM Sent.

I always complain that the hot rod events are always east of the mississippi, and now here is one 350mi away, and i can't make it! The girlfriend broke her wrist tripping over the cat , and now we have to see her ortho guy in california.
I did get to the 70th hot rod /in-n-out aniversary party, that was a fun show, but by the time i found out about it, car registration was closed. I'm looking forward to the 75th. Still wanna do drag week, but only as a spectator, cant afford to really do the race, too old anyway.

I would really like to do this...haven't raced my bowtie car in a while...but not likely didn't know it was happening until now. Might see some of these folks on my commute home though.

I learned something. I suck at drag racing. Trying to get the Charger to launch was very difficult with the 4 speed. My best run was a 15.8@ 92mph. I got 8 runs in. More than I thought I would get.

Had 2 mishaps. The voltage regulator died, on the way to our hotel Friday night. Voltage was at 19 volts. Lifted a field wire off the alternator and drove to the hotel with the headlights off. That was fun. Saturday morning ran by Oreillys on the way back to the track and got another voltage regulator.

Saturday morning, the car was running well, did the burnout ok, left the line and shifted to 2nd, the engine just looses power and drops to idle. Let it roll to the exit and get off the track and on to the return road. I opened the hood and see that the throttle cable broke at the carb stud. Idled it to the Panduit booth. Got some small Zip Ties and rigged the throttle cable back on to the carb. Zip Tie fix!

Had a great time. The I10 closure on the way home sucked. took 6.5 hours to get home.

That 92 mph is enough power for a mid 14 sec lap. Sounds like you just might need a little more practice (and some good rear tires).

Yes to both. First I tried keeping the RPM down and feather out the clutch, Still I was in to the secondarys too soon I think. Engine bogged trying to catch it's breath. Then I tried to raise the RPM higher and dump the clutch, just spins the tires.
