So i am having my restomod superbird completely redone because the people who just finished the resto did a horrific job...i mean, nobody could have done worse.

so I am going to paint it Plum Crazy but was wondering about the differences, subtile as they may, in the colors from the OEM colors in the 70's to the current OEM colors. Are the current colors better? What have they added? Are the shades different from 70's colors?

not sure if there is a comparison chart out there, but it would pretty cool if there was.

Opinion - if you were restomodding a car would you use old school paint codes or the new paint codes of today?

Ppg 2210 can still be made.

thank you for this but does the new PC look better?

It may but it takes a special toner on the new PHG plum crazy. Heres to chips.

Ill say maybe more vivid.

All the "new" paints look better, when applied properly. The technology has changed so much, that many of the Old Drab colors now POP, and they retain the shine, or wet look, as the clear coats enhance this...

yeah, that's what i figured. thank you!

I have always done base/clear to the original color, but you're right that the clear makes it pop better.

Ya the newer colors do pop more. Vibrant pearls replace the old metallics. The clear does give alot more depth. .

I know this is far from a perfect comparison, but the '65 is original Medium Turquoise Poly, and the Trunk Pan is the same Base color, but new BC-CC, on my '63...

I love that straight enamel look of the old paint on any car. The Hemi Orange on my new Challenger is Hemi Orange Pearl. Nice but not the same.
