Help!! What this Charger worth?

You cannot go crazy and spend 30 to 40 grand on this car,but if you could do the work mostly yourself, and make a nice 383 4 speed cruise night car out of it,and just drive and enjoy the car,it would be worth doing the car.

I would say $2,500 - $3,000. Only because it's a 383 4-speed.
But it looks fairly unmolested, most are not.
And yes it's worth much more in parts.

Where is the car now? I have been looking for a yellow 66 for my Dad. I might be interested in it.

Don't get me wrong
I like that body style, just not a good market for them
hard to sell, parts are too far & few in-between
or will be costly

Looks like a money pit to me...
worth more in parts, than as a whole IMO

If you're doing it to help the "widow"
you could help her sell it for more than you are willing to pay
If it's a guilt trip, is your deal
(don't fall for that ****, nobody else will care)
she probably wants it gone & out of her garage

or maybe if you really want the car,
don't care about time or cost, buy it for cheap,
get it running & driving
several grand $$$$ later, just to drive it & enjoy it,
don't expect much out of it

(nobody overpays just because of sentiment, not even those here
they would all lowball her too, if the buyers shoes on their foot

don't fall for that BS, none of them here would either,
those piling on boo freaken' hoo
)

Florida isn't much better for rust issues

In the condition I see, in the few photos posted
not a dime over $2500, that's even with accounting for "the sob story"
(I personally would pass on it)

looks like a lot more hidden rust areas too
as I said before a $$$ Money Pit

not much of a strong market for them,
especially if it's a fixer & flip
even for the good ones, far less chances to sell

sorry if that hurts some feeling but it's reality

good luck, buyer beware

She will probably get snookered by somebody if she sells on her own. If you want to fix it and can do most work yourself you pay a little more. She cant part it out that's for sure.

There is a difference between being fair and taking advantage, in spite of some of the lousy comments ive read in this thread.
Nobody has a idea what this woman's situation is or what she wants for this car. She may want it gone and doesn't care because she doesn't need the money or she may know what her husband paid, got incorrect advise and wants to much money.
Ask her what she wants. If she says she has no idea, make her a fair offer. It need not be top dollar, just a fair offer and dont rob her.
When you **** people out of money, thats bad karma and at some time it will come back at you.

Hmmm, I see the temptation...big block 4 speed car. All things considered? PASS

Don't pay more than $1,200 if you have to have it.

Thanks for all you guys help & advise. Makes it easier about the decision. I was actually, before all your input, that the car was a $1-$2 grand tops

your initial thoughts were right on target
after your last pics
looks like a 1k car to me
that is
hard to find parts for
expensive to restore certain parts
and the number one reason
has shitty resale..
people say they love them
but not enough to open their wallet wide for...

and seeing you have to pay to haul it across many state lines to get home
my offer would be 500 bucks
people say be fair to the widow
but be fair to yourself
you would be a grand ahead by finding something in your backyard
cars like these are a dime a dozen

I guess at that point, you might as well tap her too,and wipe it on the pillow on the way out! Rough crowd! The days of big block 4 speed Mopars for $500.00 ended sometime around 1984!

In your avatar says St Louis and the car is few blocks from your house. Later you say car is in South Florida, you move and didn't change avatar?

the guy wants a honest opinion
at least someone won't sugar coat it
go find something else , you have to use some common sense

heck not long ago I saw a nice driver red 66 383 auto buckets console
paint faded a little , it was all there, zero rust
not one speck for sale for 8k and that car sat on a used car lot
for almost 10 years before it disappeared.
it amazed me the car sat for so long.

if you read back he is working in Fla temporally
not living there

Those cars really don't get much love in the B body world, and the sad part is that they were probably the best built B bodies out of all of them made. I have a friend that loves them, he probably has 7 or 8 of them, one is a 66 Hemi Charger, and two other ones are 67 440 Magnum cars, one automatic car and one 4 speed, Dana car.

and see
just like that
now you are admitting it.. lol

I hear ya Frank, but I also believe that there is not much in the under 5 grand range for big block 4 speed Mopars, and I realistically figured that 3 to 4 grand is a fair price for this car in the current market. The first generation Chargers are riding the coattails of the second generation Chargers this time around, much more than they have in the past. It's not a car that one can dump a ton of money into, but if you do the work yourself, one could be into a turn key big block 4 speed Mopar driver for ten grand or so. The car is complete. I want to see people get the best deal they can on a car, believe me,and anything under 4 grand is a good deal,I would start at two and see what she says. I am sure that she has an idea what the husband payed for the car.

Big difference between a factory 4 speed car and the same car in an automatic.

If they are a dime a dozen, you should have at least a dozen by now..right?
