I have a 71' Satellite with fresh paint and I wondered if anyone has any recommendations as to the best indoor covers out there-I've been told it needs to be cotton??

The inside needs to be a soft material.most
manufacturers offer this type cover
Mine is cotton material, never had a scratch
from it,10 yrs old.

Clear it with your painter first. Some will use it as an excuse to void your warranty. They blame it on not letting the paint breathe.

California Car Covers, and Budge brands are good. Got these on our cars. Fit rather nicely, and not that heavy when you roll them up to put them away in springtime. I hear WeatherTech (the people who make the floor and cargo-liners) now have car covers, not sure how good they are.

I have a form fitted cover for my Superbird. It was $400+ and has a nice soft, fussy lining. After 3 years of use it caused enough light scratches in the paint that I had to have a detailed paint correction done. For that reason it is boxed up and will not be used by me. I find it much easier to remove a little dust with the products I bought from my detailer than pay him again.

Yep Jerry.. I ditched the covers decades ago. I blow any heavy dust off with an airgun and then use a Kozak cloth. Cars are more enjoyable when you can see them tooooo...

The Kozak cloth is good, I still have several new ones. I do basically the same as you to get most of the dust off, but lately I use the detailing spray I purchased from my detailer along with the 1" thick microfiber cloths he has. They are softer than a baby's butt and don't hurt anything.

I use one cloth to get the rest of the dust off, and then a fresh one with the spray if needed.

Mine is a form fitted quilted cover, thick like a moving blanket. Was pricy, but cheap compared to the paint. Coverking I think. Only downside is its very heavy when lifting it off the car. Inside is getting a bit roughed up from the radio antenna stud. Overall highly pleased.

California Car Covers - Dustop version.
Yep, best bang for the buck IMO. I have several of these.

If you want to splurge get a satin stretch. Super soft and easy to put on without chasing the cover around the car. And you get a pretty cool silhouette of the car.

Thanks everyone for the input-I will look into the options you've all mentioned!!
Much appreciated
Kind Regards
Kev

What is it? They all scratch by virtue of install/remove. All a pia and expensive. If garaged, enjoy the beauty of your ride every time you enter. I cover mine in the carport. And, it’s swirled up. That said, Dustop is a candidate.

New paint but in the garage - Cats have been using it as a fairground ride-sliding off the roof down the windscreen:cursin:

I dust mine down before I install the cover
The cover also protects against accidentally
dinging it while storing between drives.

My cat is now trained. She got locked in the barn for 3 days by accident. Now she will come to about 2 foot of the door and stop. It doesn't matter if it's the side 3 foot door or the 16 foot roll up door. If I pick her up and start to walk in, she will scratch me and jump down and run.

if you have old school florescent lights in your garage I would keep a cover on the car. The lights are in the ultraviolet range and tend to yellow upholstery over time.
