This is the seventh month of my dieting down twenty five pounds pretty happy about that. Feeling great and heath has improved. Linda to has been loosing weight since early last year. Other than blowing a hole in our clothing budget we are doing great.

Just eat healthy and less red meat and fat. Plus our motivation has been Weight Watchers which has motivated us to stick with weekly weigh ins and diet education. I still eat the things I like a couple times a week even three beers and Margareta's and I still am making progress. It is tough to eat the healthy stuff but as I say its been well worth it.

Congrats ! Losing weight can be difficult, especially as we age. I'm 56 and have studied diet & nutrition, along with bodybuilding, since the age of 15. I've tried MANY diets over the years. And have taken my weight back and forth from 180 to 270, at will. I've worn 32 inch waist pants at 270 lbs. What i've learned is, almost every diet works, as long as there is a calorie defecit. The trick is to lose more fat than muscle. You're losing it relatively slowly, which helps retain muscle, and helps ensure the weight stays off. The most effective for me, has been a high fat diet. There are many versions- atkins, keto, etc, but high fat diets all work on the same principle, of burning fat instead of carbs for energy. For years i believed what i read about eating small meals 4-6 a day, to keep insulin levels from spiking, and retaining fat. It was a pain prepping veggies, baking chicken, washing tupperware, grocery shopping 2-3 times a week, to ensure freshness. Now i get up, crack 6 eggs in a skillet with butter, and i-m good to go for hours. And have plenty of stamina in the gym. The key is to be your own test kitchen, listen to your body, and go with what works for you.

Congrats on your accomplishment Auggie, healthy eating pays many dividends and is well worth the investment.

Congrats on your progress. Dieting is a bitch! My cardio doc said to me , cut out the carbs, he was right

I think most of us struggle with those pesky 25 extra pounds. Good for you Auggie!

I buy my beef & chicken from a local butcher shop, 20lbs at a time. None of the injected store bought crap.

Just started cutting my carbs today, it was odd going to Wendys and getting a chicken sandwich without a bun. God I love bread .

And bread is the worst......

Don't be misguided by the first few pounds you drop. As you start cutting carbs, your glycogen level depletes. So initial loss is usually water. You may feel weak for a few days to a week, till your system converts to burning fat instead of carbs.

I am on a low carb, high fiber diet and no fruit juice, meat fats or red meats. Health issues have seen to that.

Sorry to hear about the health issues. Your body has to have a source of fuel. If theres insufficient carbs & fat, all that leaves is protein. And without meat, your body could start eating muscle ( catabolic).

And bread is the worst......

For me it was Pretzels.... luv me some synders nibblers. Haven't touched them in about 5 months, tempting me everytime I go in the pantry

Yeap need to retribution to rye and pumpernickel and leave the refined white alone.
