From a stop 4- speed not wanted my to go into gear and does grind a little going into reverse. First off it's a 71 440-6 RR 23 spline. Trans rebuild and new clutch. The crank did require the undersized .914 pilot bushing. There is plenty or room for the input shaft, the clutch checked and spins freely. The bell housing checked for run-out with .001 top to bottom and .005 left to right. I was told being the crank wasn't finished honed the bore is probably off and causing the input shaft to bind some and to use the bearing in the torque converter register to solve the issue. Does this should right ? The car was run with 100 trouble free miles then one hot night while cruising it started and got very bad. When the trans was pulled the shaft was blued from heat but the pilot bushing did show some wear one just one quarter of a side, telling me it is off some. Any opinions or thoughts ? Use the bearing or install a new undersized bushing ?
