Suggestions for intake & carb(s) for 572 Hemi

If you want an expert opinion call Rich at FAST Man EFI. He has built a ton of Hemi engines over the years and knows what the best setup is. Look at his website and check out some of the engines he has tuned. No doubt he'll tell you to use the Edelbrock dual inline intake with dual throttle bodies.

We had a 528 Hemi cammed with .680 of lift and a 950 Holley was too small. Picked up around 25 hp with twin 750's.

Contemplating replacing the crossram & dual Holleys to something more streetable.
So, 4 barrel or inline dual 4's? What carb(s)?
Something more streetable?
I'll trade you for a 5.7 Gen 3 Hemi, pay shipping of your 572 to me, and have a local mechanic pull the 572 and install the Gen 3 5.7 in its place...
Just PM me and we'll make it happen!
 :bananadance: :poke:

One is good two are better? Personally street hemi carbs areto small. The 750 edelbrock inline would be better. MO.

I ran dual AVS2's inline which worked nicely but for me was a pain to take 2 carbs apart over and over to dial in jetting.

I suppose not a big deal but I'm used to EFI so going with Edelbrock pro flo 4 2x4 setup.

I didn’t know that was made. Interesting.....

Nothing wrong with a cross ram if dialled in right

Single 4s are OK, but man I love dual quads on a Hemi. Mine is a 572 with a pair of 850 TQs that I built on an Indy crossram....runs awesome at idle, cruise and WOT.

WOW! Sweetness right there. What model number TQ’s?
Love those carbs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there some starting procedure steps to take with that Indy X ram intake manifold to avoid a backfire/explosion?
By the way, I considered that intake with a 3x2 top on it, so I like the design and concept, I just seem to remember that having been a reported issue to avoid, most by cracking the throttle open when cranking the engine upon startup.

Need to say those Hollies you have on that 572 are from Ray Barton. And he supposedly tuned them before shipping. And they were spendy! Might want to call him before tearing the top end apart.

Its easy to avoid - separate your cranking circuit from your ign coil. Two pumps from cold, spin the engine over on the starter only, then flick the coil switch on to add fire. Works fantastic, starts right up, never an issue, even from dead cold.

Problem solved !

Heyyyyy, a pair of 440 truck carbs. Very good! Very good indeeed. They are killer carbs. I certainly didn’t expect to see them as they are being used. Most people think I’m crazy for sticking up for them. If you have a good TQ carb (not worn out and beat up to high heaven...) they work really well on a wide verity or set ups. They can even be found cheap.

And I thought I was the only nut!
Small block MP-TR, twin 800’sw/electric chokes.

Same here haha, most dont even know what they are, even rarer to see them used down here. I have less than 150 clam$ in these. Did some some internal/external mods, then rebushed the pri throttle shafts, soda blasted them, cleaned them in the ultrasonic cleaner and reassembled with fresh kits/pulloffs etc. Dialling them in, I have had zero issues, plugs look great and they really pull hard up top. Need to dial in WOT on the hub dyno to really setup the secondaries for AFR's and peak power.

Have a decent stash of jets, rods and even scored the NOS 10-203 kit locally for 10 clams ;)

Really impressed at how easily Ive been able to dial them in with dual widebands.

Great minds ;)

I have done a couple of 572's, one with twin throttle bodies run by a Rich Nedbal Fast XFI and a stage V with twin AVS 650's. Both have their place but the carbed motor was a bunch cheaper. The EFI motor ended up making 843hp on pump gas and the carbed motor is goi g to the Dyno soon but should be around 750hp. PM me for details or questions.

A strip kit for what!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!

Holy Moly that’s freakin great!!!

If, and this is huge, IF you ever run across a pair of these TQ’s that do not have the primary venturi hourglass shape, but just straight barrels, those are the 1,000 cfm race carbs. The one pictured below is an 850. The booster has 1 ring on both race carbs. They use press in jets, Splayed idle adjustment screws up front, adjustable position throttle arm and a QJ fuel inlet facing downwards. They also lack the internal centered step up enrichment cam for the primary’s metering rod tree and have a manual choke cable attachment on the rear drivers side.

You could use a pair of those. There hard to find. A constant scan of eBay will yield results eventually.

I know the Comp TQs Rumble and have used TQs on SBMs before too. Scotty at Harms has a few in his stash, I even thought about gettting some from him later on ( lot of coin to throw at TQs lol) Re the EFI Hemis - While EFI is great and getting better (by EFI I mean real port EFI, not TB EFI) when I have carbs that run within a few HP of EFI, start from dead cold without chokes and idle solo 30-45 secs in from starting, have great AFRs and plugs, are simple to tune and cost 1/1000th of proper EFI, I cant see the need to change with my current setup.

Now if I was boosted....Id want EFI for cyl to cyl tuning, ECU controlled timing, traction control etc....how else does anyone think that guys are in the low 7s with a 275 radial, leaf spring car ;)

So while EFI is awesome and may be on the cards later on, I can honestly say that co$t v benefit is'nt there for me with my current combo.
