Nostalgia Super Stock / Mopar Races

Doug, Does the NMCA run all makes in NSS ? And what is there year cut off ? Do you have to run factory induction ?
All makes, even at Monster Mopar. Any cast intake, single 4150 carb, Eddy/Carter (one carb or two). 1967 cut off. Dustin Goodin is doing the trails race.

So where are all of the Nostalgia and Mopar Races this summer?

Been looking in the Pennsylvania - Ohio area and they are getting pretty thin.

Monster Mopar - Norwalk
Buckeye Stock Super Stock
Beaver Springs Nostalgia Nationals
NMCA Nowalk & Indy
PID - Keystone Nostalgia Race
Milan Nostalgia Weekend

Are ther any others that I'm missing?
Cecil County Dragway in Northeast, MD has a program called "United Nostalgia Stock and Super Stock Assn'" I've been running it for the past three years. Great people and a spectacular mix of cars. In this group you'll find mostly N/SS cars, but as long as the car fits the look of an NHRA Stock Eliminator, or SS car it fits. There is a Facebook page for this group. Typically we will get 40-50 cars. I'm a purist, and most all of the cars are bitchin' examples of nostalgia. In this class, single carbs are allowed, but much like N/SS the electronics are not allowed. Also, there is no club dues, nor pressure to attend. It's an inexpensive day, and Cecil County typically gets our race completed by 4:00 PM...typically on Saturday. That leaves time to take care of the wife after the races...or to unload from the day. I'll see if I can pull up a rules page and I'll post it here. There is a cutoff for cars. I feel like it's '75 and older. No non-factory scoops.

In the above you'll find the rules and schedule in the link. The photos are of some of the regulars that attend this series. I'm almost 52 years old. Been racing N/SS and vintage drags my whole life. Best group I've ever raced with. Tell your friends!!

Cecil County is on my bucket list. It's just a cool old track. A lot of the cars I remember from 422 Motorsports. Always good cars out that way.

We used to run with the 422 guys. That group disbanded. Lots of their former members are racing with United. Cecil Co. is by far the best track in our area. It's run by Jim Halsey who races his own Pro Mod. He gets it and so does his staff. The other great thing about Cecil Co...it's the fastest track in the East. Nearly below sea level. On any given day Cecil will be 1-3 tenths faster than Maple Grove, Atco, Island, E-Town RIP. Hope to see you out this way. If you decide to come, we can advise hotels in the area. Love your car!

I really don't understand not allowing 69 or 70 model years in the race, wasn't that the heyday of it all before they stopped making the cool stuff in 72 ? As I said before we NEED MORE participants to keep this thing going. After all it's just a bracket race , old school. JMO

I love racing with the UNSS group at Cecil County dragway when I can get to the track. My car is a street car that I drive to Cecil and they let me run in their race. Its great and they usually have one race every month. I only get to race a couple times a year but I really enjoy it when I get to go. Ron

Its a rule that people have complained about for years. If you want to run a certain class you have to build a car to fit. Just like competing in NHRA, X275, No Prep Kings. They all have rules. The line has to get drawn somewhere. I've heard complaints of different body style, small blocks, trans brakes, data loggers, rack and pinion, aero scoops should be allowed. The bottom line is the answer has been no. I don't see it changing. So often classes get watered down. This class has stayed true to it's origin. There is a rules committee. They sit down every year and discuss if there will be any changes. They poll the racers themselves and then decide. This year single Holley's are allowed on Mopar's. They also outlawed digital dashes. Last year there was a big push for rack and pinion. Some complained that standard steering was unsafe. That was turned down as well. You correct it is an index class (not bracket and yes there is a difference. I run both). This class was conceived to showcase "factory" Super Stock package cars. Max Wedge, race Hemi, Thunderbolts, swiss cheese Pontiac's, 409 Chevy's, lite weight Galaxies, ETC. The last package cars sold were 69 AMX. Granted there are a few in the mix that weren't there at the beginning. Old's, Buick's, Fairlane's. But there vintage fits. And those cars were being raced new during the time period. The engines have stayed true as type. No Hemi's in pre 64, no 396/427 in pre 65 , no Lima series in any Ford.

Just curious, why did 422 disband?

Does United run 5 tenths full tree or 4 tenths?

Doug..you're 100% correct, the rules are the rules and the racer has to build a car according to the rules for what ever class he or she want's to run.
But I do agree with Cornpicker. If N/SS is going to survive we're going to need to allow later body cars. I'm 50 years old and will always love the early cars but there are fewer and fewer of us because the guys who grew up in that era are retiring or dying off.

I think pony cars from the late 60's and early 70's would be a great addition to N/SS ...
No they can split up big block and small block into two different classes. Big block N/SS and small block N/MP would be cool

The UNSS club at Cecil lets up to 1974 cars run I believe. We have run my sons 72 Dart in their Nostalgia Super Stock race and I see other early 70 cars also. I also like that its just bracket racing as you can dail any # you want and change between rounds.

Doug, When you refer to the 69 AMX as being included in your index race, is that the 390 4-speed ? Did they have something special that you couldn't get at the showroom ? I think some came with two carbs ? What about the lift off hood cars in 69 1/2 with the six pack ? Wasn't that considered pretty much for drag racing and NOT daily driving for the wife. Again, I know you are well respected in that series and if you have any influence to the powers that be , please stress that we need MORE participants not rule changes , just common sense.

The A 990 6 Pac along with the Rambler Scrambler were both Package cars. But they were production street cars. The S/S AMX was like a 68 Hemi Dart/Cuda. We always welcome new participants. You'll never race with a better bunch. I personally am not on the rules committee. Last years Indy NMCA race had 68 qualified N/SS cars.

Does anybody know what rules the Buckeye S/SS series go by
