Ok my 2 cents worth on electric fans . I have lived in N.C. and in Tucson AZ. I am still building my 65 afx Coronet with a Hemi . When living in N.C. I built 2 cars that both used electric fans . I used them because of space limitations in the engine compartment . A 1941 Willys coupe with a wormed over small block and a 1972 Dodge Colt with a blown 440 . I wired both to toggle switches that I could cut off and on when needed . The Willys would run on the open road with out the fans on and was only needed when in traffic . The colt ran all the time . I drove the Willys across country 5000 plus miles with no problems . I was in Tucson one day in town and forgot to turn the fans on . It got up to 230 degrees , switched on the fans and it came down to 185 in about a mile of driving . This car had ac . the colt did not . My 65 car will be using a 31x19 two tube aluminum radiator . It has 2 12 inch Spal fans that are rated a 1368 cfm each mounted on a full aluminum shroud . I will use a high volume water pump and a 185 degree thermostat . I will use the correct Relays that Spat recommends and will control them with a manual switch . I have included a few pics of the Colt and 65 set up . I know this post asks about electric fans and with ac but space limits what you can run in your cars . As you can see the Colt set up was TIGHT as Hell . 2 small fans radiator and trans cooler . Had to grind the lower side of the grill to get it to clear everything . Had to turn the blower belt sideways to get it off .Hope this helps John
