Are BB Closed chamber heads # 2406516 worth anything? What would be an honest price sell them. There 1964,1965, closed chamber,2.8/1.60 found on 361,383 and 413.

This is only my opinion. It's a good head, but if modifying to larger valves and doing any port work, it is more prone to cracking than other Mopar heads. Again my opinion $150-175 a set.

There not worth much, by the time you put all the machining and component cost into them you can buy a new set of aluminium closed chamber heads. 440'

Worth zero. If you don't believe me put them on Craigslist and see if you can sell them. I don't think any BB cast iron heads are worth anything with the exception of maybe the closed chamber 915 heads. I've tried to sell virgin 906 heads for $100 a pair with no takers. There are a few guys restoring muscle cars who will buy specific date code heads but it is hard to find a buyer when you have a set.

Next big question! The guy who has interest in these heads is thinking they may fit a 351 BB. Is this a yes or no!

The first B engine was 350 cu in. I've never seen one. The heads all interchange but too large valves will hit the cylinder edge.

I had a 350 in a 58 Fury with 2 4 barrels. I loved that motor cause I took off 1 4 barrel and was beating the 327 Chevy's with it and by that time it had close to 100,000 miles. I drove it for another 50,000. I took the 4 barrel off to see if I would get better gas mileage because I was driving about 400 miles each weekend to come home from the Air Force base in Dover Delaware

I know they came on 361's and 383's through 67. 68 went to the open chamber 906's.

IMHO, They perform well if the exhaust valve is enlarged to 1.74. The add usually a full number to the compression of an engine with open chamber heads. As core’s with stock valve sizes I think they’re worth $150-200. If the exhaust valves are already enlarged and they are in useable condition $400-500. Not everyone can afford aluminum heads which start at $1000 and go up so there is a niche and market for them.

Zero chance of selling 516 cores for $150 to $200 around here. I've had virgin 1968 906 heads for sale in the local Craigslist for $100 a pair with no calls. Zero interest in them. And 516 heads are garbage compared to 906 heads. I've thrown away at least 5 sets of 516 heads in the last several years. Any 516 head that comes into my shop goes straight into the recycle bin. There is zero demand for those heads.

I think the small exhaust valves are a necessity for a 361, because of the small bore. Someone who wants them for a 361 is likely your ONLY customer for those heads.

516’s are closed chamber 906/452 are not. why do you think 906 heads are so much better? Remember, I said with the larger exhaust valve the 516 are pretty good. It’s an easy way to bump up compression. Compression equals power. I would have gladly taken every pair you threw out. For entry level enthusiasts these are a viable option with larger valves. Not everyone has the money to spend on aluminum heads. I have ported 906 heads on one car and aluminum heads on another. Dollars to donuts, yes I wouldn’t spend a fortune working over iron heads when stock eddy e-streets perform better for less money. But if there are iron heads floating around with valves enlarged already for cheap, and it fits their budget, why not?

Chrysler designed the later heads for better flow to handle the larger engines they were to be used on. Now I don't believe the chamber design was better but the factory had to satisfy the coming air pollution standards and were using the "latest" technology they had. I, personally wouldn't go back to the iron heads and I have a dozen pairs in stock.

So if 516`s are worthless, what are bare small valve 915`s worth? Should I use them as ornaments ,maybe with a display showing all types of heads?

Give me a deal, I'll make them big valve heads very quickly. :)

Did the fuel mileage improve?

I have several sets of heads that no one even wants even for free....but Houston isn't much of a Mopar town.

Pretty much the same way in my area too....although I have a set of 516's with 1.74 valves on a 440 that was originally built for a truck. The truck is long gone but the engine is still here.

516 Heads ?
the question would be WHY for ANY application ?
I mean let's get real here..... other than for if it was some strange numbers "absolutely HAD to have them" reason ?
WHO can afford to rebuild them even half-assed decently for even the mildest performance application ?
They ain't even worth buying the parts for ? let be the labor ?
