hi...
i just joined For B Bodies Only. i am a long-term member of For A Bodies Only.

i am building a 1969 440 M-Code Cuda and am looking for a 1969 dated 440 block in good condition - preferably stamped with the hp stamp.

i will consider a finished block or one that needs to be worked on but it has to be a good block with no cracks or welds. i would also consider a complete engine if it is a 69 dated block.

thanks... and looking forward to keeping up with B bodies. i have been a mopar guy for 50 years and street raced mopars back in high school (1970-72) when they were "new!" i had a 70 Roadrunner after high school with a 383 3 speed which was a very cool car. i also have a funny story about me and my mom trying out a 1969 A12 Roadrunner with the owner of the Plymouth dealership. he didn't know how to drive a 4 speed very well and certainly wasn't used to the brutal power of the A12. all my mother said after the test ride was "you're NOT buying this car!"

thanks for your help on the 440 block.

James, I will check the numbers within the next few days as I know where a 69 440 block is. And it's not far from you, it's just south of Cleveland Oh. I will post numbers as soon as I get to it.

hi cornpicker,

thanks for contacting me. Cleveland is not far from me here in Pittsburgh. it would be great if you know someone there who has a 69 dated 440 block that can be redone.

thanks again.

hey gssdemon...
thanks for the information. would you consider just selling the block? i'm going to use aluminum heads and other aluminum parts to save weight along with an aluminum six pack assembly. so i just need a good block. i think you can probably ship just an engine block only. what do you think?

Why do you want a date coded "correct" block if you're not building a stock/restoration engine?

hi theman440..

i'm building/restoring a 69 M-Code Cuda that was originally cut up into a drag car out of Boston. i had American Metal Direct (AMD) put all the sheet metal on the car back to complete stock but i did add a 4 speed hump. there were no original M-Code Cuda's built with a 4 speed. but all my cars are 4 speeds so that is what i wanted. the car has had way too much modification and repair for it to ever be in the "A+" category of "trailer queen" or "museum piece" M-Code Cuda's - but it is a real M-Code. i want to do a 440 with as many aluminum parts as possible to save weight. i have an original 383 4 speed 69 Cuda and big blocks are a lot of weight in A-body mopars. i figure i can save probably 100 lbs. by doing all aluminum parts for the 440 block. however, i do want to put a "correct" 1969 block in this car. so long as it has a "date correct" block, someone could put all cast iron parts on the motor if they wanted a more "correct" OEM 69 440. i'm also thinking i can build a good 440 a little cheaper than buying one already done if i can start with a good block. if you know of a 69 dated 440 block, i'd certainly be interested.
