Disclaimer: if you care about a factory correct restoration, stop reading now.

My satellite has a black exterior, and cream/white interior from legendary that is in OK shape but starting to show its age. I cover everything with a sheet on the rare occasions I park outside in the sun, but it is still yellowing with age and seats are starting to wear from my butt scooting across them.

I am in the beginning stages of planning an interior swap. First of all, I do not like the satellite/gtx interior with the western scroll. I much prefer the Belvedere II pattern. I also have the individual front seats with the buddy/seat armrest in the middle; I’m going to swap that out for a split bench. With the amount of nose down rake my car has, I use blocks under the driver seat to lean it back to a comfortable angle, I will be doing this to the whole bench.

So here are the questions/options that I am trying to hash out. I am 100% set on using red interior. The (black) car has hand painted red pinstripes and redline tires.

my thought is leave the carpet, Dash and package tray black, and do red door panels and seats.

I am torn between metallic red, and a brighter crimson. Legendary has a Belvedere pattern that is metallic red with cloth inserts, that looks really good. The only challenge will be getting them to make a custom cover in that B. II pattern for the rear seat back, which is of course different in the satellite. Also not sure if I want to do a red headliner or black.

What do you guys think?

I have a 67 Belvedere seat back if you want to swap that out too, and make it easier at Legendary.
I too almost quit reading, but you're not doing anything that can't easily be corrected. Also it's your car and you are making it yours. Have fun.

Do you have bucket seats now?
Are you looking for bench seats

I just talked with legendary earlier this week about a 4 door back seat with a 2 door design and the customer service rep said they won’t do that. It wasn’t a pressed pattern I was looking for so theoretically it should be feasible to do...but the answer was no.

I would go with Jerry Hall’s suggestion and get a Belvedere back seat to start with.

Yes, I am looking for a split bench. And I really love the satellite rear seat panel on the two door with the logo, I would rather just go with the satellite rear seat of the same color and mis-matching pattern then swap a belvedere rear seat.

SMS can duplicate the materials for you and you can have a good upholstery shop make the covers.

Will you swap the buckets for a split bench?

What color/condition bench? I would rate my buckets and Buddy seat at 90%. No rips or tears, just scuff marks and discoloration.

It is black and in a 67 Coronet, as you plan to recover it won't be a problem. It doesn't seem to have any broken springs and mechanically does what it is supposed to. It's not ripped up either. Reupholstering would make it new. I can get pictures later today or tomorrow if you have a interest.

I would be willing to make that trade if you are willing to make the drive up to Pembroke, KY to do the swap.
Thanks,
Andrew

Despite the big claims on the website about custom interiors, Legendary really does not like doing custom anything. 25% upcharge for any color change to existing patterns, and they quoted me $2000 to make a satellite rear seat cover using the belvedere II material and pattern. So that’s a big no for me.

Anyone have a really good upholstery shop they can recommend in the KY/TN greater Nashville area?

It took a few years, but here is the semi-finished product. In the process of cleaning up and storing the white western scroll interior for sale. Turns out the seats were legendary, circa late 90's, and the door panels were original. All in really nice shape, I just didn't like the white.
-Adapting split bench was easy, but surprisingly the seating position is about 2-3" higher up than the buckets. My head almost touches the headliner now.
-The metal brackets for the buddy seat get in the way. Currently I can't slide the bench until I cut off the front bracket. Rear bracket clears fine.
-the door panels were designed to be used without chrome trim, but with some work I was able to fit them with the top trim. Bottom trim is of course fastened to the original panels with brads.

In summary, if you have a '67 satellite you can swap out the entire interior easily with other B-body parts with the exception of the upper rear seat. With that one you are limited to western scroll or will need to have a custom cover made due to the unique shape of the upper seat.
