The body work on my '70 GTX is done and the shop is doing the last few things before paint. I went to the shop to check on the progress and I noticed they hadn't drilled the holes for the GTX name plate on the back of the deck lid, so I mentioned it to the owner and he said he thought the name plate on a '70 was a stick on emblem, I told him I thought it was a pin on/stud type emblem. So I was doing some checking around and I'm finding some sources claiming stick on is correct and some saying pin type is correct. My books are giving me 2 different part numbers 2840214 and 3506363 and I've seen that part number 3680160 is correct also. Then I've seen 3680160 as pin type and as stick on type, supposedly in original packaging. Can anybody shed some light on this, what's correct for 1970 GTX deck lid name plate. The deck lid is not the original to the car so I can't go by if there is holes or not.

Pin type, at least mine is

I have the decklid emblem from my former 70 GTX, and it is a pin type emblem. It was the original emblem.

Thanks for the responses everybody. It seems that the general consensus is the factory used the pin type emblems in 1970. So that brings up the next question, what type of fastener was used to hold these emblems in place? A barrel nut maybe?

I think that it'd be a speed nut like I've seen on other emblems, but since mine was already removed, I cannot confirm that.

Assume the '70 GTX is the same as the '70 Roadrunner... push pin retainers..

Ted, initially I was thinking the same thing when we were discussing this, but a little more research had me thinking that it was the clips that DadsBee is showing, I've always known them as barrel nuts, however there is another fastener called a barrel nut so maybe that's not what they are called.
DadsBee, I can't see any reason that RoadRunner and GTX would use different fasteners, so I think your correct.

Rick, I think that you are right. I could see reaching up to spin on a couple speed nuts, but it would be a bit of a bitch and in mass production, dadsbee's information makes way more sense. Need to get me some of those.

Thanks dadsbee, that's two of us that you helped out.

I'm trying to remember where I bought the bag of them... was a hard find a few years ago.

Thanks Ted, I'll see if I can find anything out about which clips are correct, the ones that dadsbee used sure look like they would hold the emblem more solid but I've never seen the other ones. Maybe different plants used different clips?
