Operation: My new Hemi Charger 500, 5th one built of initial 6.

Very very nice. Very interesting story. Glad it survived and is now with a new caretaker. Can't wait to see the build progress. Is this going to be a concours car?

Going to try to get as close to OEM correct as possible. Big thing, at this point, I won't be doing is the sound deadener / undercoating on the undercarriage.. I'll be using Dave P. dip primer gray paint and then just shooting the car with the overspray look.

Happy New Year Troy.
Wonderful progress on your early C500.
Much quicker than my ‘last 440’ built C500 248662
I could make plenty of excuses why that is, but most Moparfolks already know them lol...
Have a great year with your supersonic C500.

More updates... PJ, the car is making fast progress because my car is the only one in the shop at the present. Coming along rather nicely, but puts the pressure on me to get the items they need, i.e paints and parts, sooner than later and sometime it is hard balancing that with my full time job.. But, not complaining..

here are some more pictures of the car getting its "undercarriage primer paint" and overspray. Doors and such were 1st color !!!

After the bottom is done, the car was put into the paint booth masked off for top sealer and eventual base coat

69 Charger 500 visit;
Stretched legs on the ole Daytona to visit Ray Reitz and Brian to see the 500.. Man, she looks good.. Nice to help install the hood. Pictures make the car have an orange hue, but in person she's definitely red. But weird how in some lighting it looks orange.

Well, the whole car is red now, albeit the lighting makes it look like Candy-Apple red as of yesterday

Looks great! Once you get it rolling it'll be just about time to sell it.

:D

Well..., seeing that episodes of Mopar-Opportunity always seem to find me and frankly have served me well, I never say never regardless what others may think...… To each their own. If I could turn it as it is now into a done 4speed Superbird and something else (whatever that something else could be, why not?). Went from a simple '68 318 Charger back in 1981 to a Daytona and this PR Hemi 500 and having to fork out probably less than 25 to 30% of the market value for both cars... Yeah, I've done well.....

Troy, take some time and read Justins (aka Moparnation 74) thread in the members project car section, it's pinned at the top. He restored his dads 69 GTX. In his thread there are many tips and factory techniques about building an OEM gold level car. He explains how to build a 1969 B body from start to finish, which materials are the best to use and shows side by side comparisons of original and aftermarket parts . He also shares which vendors that he used to restore different components of the car too. Sometimes he had to have some things redone when subpar results happened, and this may save you some time and money by going to the best person or shop to achieve the best results. There is a wealth of information that he shares that most people who build cars to that level don't.

Thanks Pete.. I'll check it out for sure.. Thanks for the head's up.....

Matched up the painted sidemarker bezels with the collection of NOS side marker parts I have accumulated for the 500. Have the other NOS red reflector somewhere in my NOS parts stash. Was sent pictures yesterday of the 500.. Looks pretty good from here. I will swing by tomorrow to drop off the "500" stripe. Today the organosol black-out treatment for the taillamp panel should be done.

With the stripe on her... But, the shop had issues can could not get the bubbles out there were captured. Think it was the gel that was used... Either way, it was taken off to try again at home.....

And,,, she's home...… So, this chapter is over
