Is this a major issue..???

No offense to Fran but...I would have to see this in person to believe it. It defies logic.

Yes I know. Your rear doesn't go straight up an down. It's hinged on front perches, so when rear goes down it swings forward. Not feeding you BS went down and did it to be sure. At some point you'll jack your car. So check it out.

It certainly does Fran !

Looks like there could be a "out" then back "in" on the lower half of the axle travel.

If you plan to replace the output shaft bushing be sure to align the oil feed slot with the hole in the bushing.

Why would you choose to use a lower quality seal?

Same seal they used prior and from looking at the pic would make sure the yoke didn't contact. I run the old style without any issues.

Seems like I opened a small can of worms lol...but now I am confused, is the consensus that my driveshaft needs to be shortened slightly? It's now out of the car along with the trans so I can't put it back in and check.

Think with weight on suspension push driveshaft forward until dshaft won't go further. You should beable to pull it back an inch to 1.5". Guys correct me if I'm wrong! It doesn't happen often.:rolleyes:

Consensus.....good grief, and good luck.

You can revisit post 10. Then you'll need to decide if you want to believe it or not.

Your driveshaft looks fine to me....

So, I went to the local parts store to get a gasket/filter and rear seal for my trans.
This is what the guy gave me. Does it matter that the boot is much shorter? The green one is the new one.

The seal you removed is like a NAPA seal I bought. No NAPA's in BC. Go back if it isn't long drive make guy the look, there maybe a choice. Then there's ebay?

I prefer the OE design seal with the big dust boot... But at least the seal you have has a short dust boot, allot of replacement seals only have the oil seal....

Nothing wrong with using that seal. Long or short, it does the exact same thing, scrubs dirt from the yoke surface
