Pappy Boyington wont be down for breakfast..

Update: Cause of death was congestive heart failure. My mother passed away from the same thing.. That really sucks..

Wild West was my favorite show in my youth.
I watched it devotedly for many years. Green Hornet, Wild West and Rat Patrol were all I ever watched.
There was no remote, Cable TV and we had to continually adjust the rabbit ears to get the picture just right on that massive box of a TV and we loved it.
RIP, Capt. James West .

It's ok with me if its moved.. I sometimes post stuff in the wrong place. So If General discussion is where this post should be then thats fine by me. The post wasn't or certainly isn't meant to be funny. Robert Conrad "AKA PAPPY" was one of my heros growing up.

great show, great actor i still watch on me-tv when i can.sharp dresser on the show.

I was a big fan of the wild wild west and some of his old movies as a kid and have the dvd series of the show. Old Bob got me into weightlifting and gymnastics so I could hold my own against the jocks. A few comical stories there. Sadly he ended up in a DWI crash in his Jaguar seriously injuring a poor guy he crashed into and he paid a price being partly paralyzed. He had also fractured his skull shutting down the WW show for 6 months doing a fight scene stunt. They kept that scene in "The Night of the Fugitives". You could tell he was going to end up in a bad way as he lost his grip jumping from a balcony stair way in a saloon setting to a hanging light fixture flipping upside down toward the floor with no padding. Then when they resumed the show he gets up slowly from the floor to continue the fight scene. CBS was forced to cancel the show while it was still popular due to too much violence...go friggin figure considering all the blood and guts on tv today!

I remember when I was a kid, watching those shows late at night in the Summer time with my Dad. Also, Baa Baa Blacksheep was one I used to really like......loved the corsairs and dog fights. This would have been back in the 70s. Good shows, good memories with my Dad.

rip I use to watch his show

Man, they are all leaving.....may he rest in peace

Just recently finished watching ALL the reruns from all the seasons. When I was a kid, I thought that show was the best!!

Later in his life he had a radio show, I only heard a couple of them on the web; but he was entertaining taking calls and chatting as a regular guy. His dad played a bad guy in one of his earlier WW shows, he spoke no words, lol. Another bit of trivia I had read about is he might have taken the part Larry Hagmen played in I Dream of Jeannie! That would a been a real switch for him as the consummate tough guy! Mention as well, his partner Ross Martin, Arty who was a highly intelligent stage actor who died early from a heart attack. The part was a real switch for him and really helped make the show.

Also heard he was already in Stuntman hall of fame. Did all his stunts in WWWest.
