hi guys,
tried to install today my strange double adj front shocks,,,the shock body measuring 2 1/8" hit the body and would not align with the upper mount hole,,,,what front shocks r u guys using on this application? i would figure 1964's r the same? need a smaller diameter shock..but like double adj for obious reasons,,thanks.

Is it hitting the upper bump stop bracket? A little grinding will fix it. The other possibility is if it's really hitting. It may have A body lower control arms. The shock mount for them is inward quite a bit. A body are stamped V/L on the front surface of the arm.

the gas shocks i pulled out on the main body, measure 1.5" and fit no problem, and they were speced for a 63 belvedere, the strange units measure 2 1/8", upper stud mount is off appx 1" from the shock hole with car jacked up, which translates to appx 1/2" of grinding/cutting involved, did not know wheter other manf of shocks, viking, qa1, have thinner main bodys, i will take a closer look at it next week,,,,thanks.

My Viking D/A front shocks: NO upper sleeve... NO interference.

these dont have an upper sleeve either, the main body hits the frame by the bumper stop bracket as per the arrow above. body measures 2 1/8" where as the gas shocks that i pulled off measure 1.5"..i will pull the tire and see what its going to take to notch that frame bracket.

My Afco's touched a little. The carbide will radius it easily.
