STOCK means STOCK

If you have thin skin you should stick to the sites with kittens.

Honestly they are much more agreeable over on Moparts.

Not many of US all here are "actually youngsters", younger either...

Unless he's in his 80's, that'd explain a lot too

obviously doesn't know the demographics of FBBO
about 55-60-65 is the average age, give or take
we have some younger & very knowledgeable members too

damn whippersnappers

As I gather, there’s more than one plot going on with this thread between manifolds and headers and how one gets insulted via text messaging that is what we do on the forum. Ask me how I know as I’ve gotten in hot water communicating here and elsewhere…such as emails. I find that I know rather quickly when I’m in a chat with someone who knows their chit and others that are offering guesses, or sharing thoughts, some being pretty damn good via their experiences with a particular hassle. Guys that have already done stuff related to what I’m working on and have a story to share from it; valuable info despite how they might rank on some official scale as a mechanic. A lot of us learned by actually doing. I’ve been corrected on my thoughts politely and then not so much. Again, communicating by text leaves a lot out of the equation than one would likely get chatting face to face. Some have their blunt ways and some of my best buds are just that way and it’s all good when ya can chat person to person. Some are overtly diplomatic and others don’t waste their time on diplomacy. If someone wants to do a drive-by red X with no explanation, sorry that does irritate me and will shoot the same back to them. I’ll end with an lol.

I do agree with most of this, specifically that a lot of is lost in this communication method. Most if not all of us have been taken out of context or someone has gotten offended by misreading our writings. Then of course this is the occasion word omission such "not" making a sentence come out the reverse of what we intended. In business, I would tell my staff the following "read what you wrote at least twice before hitting the send button". I highly encouraged them to take a break before hitting the send button as well because in our heads we think we wrote one thing when in fact we didn't.

As to the red X thing, I see that a bit differently; it just means someone disagrees with a statement, does not necessarily require an explanation and many times an offered explanation will only serve to further a "debate" when it is not necessarily needed. I understand that it can feel like a punk move, but I will be honest and say that I have done it and had it done to me, but I don't take offense to it.

As to the subject of this thread, I remain a bit confused by it to be honest (which I posted earlier).

That site is dying.
If they are more agreeable, it is only because the SOP is for the Moderators to smash almost any post they deem to be aggressive. Sad thing is, they have only succeeded in chasing off many worthy members.
Look at their daily post count compared to this site.

Back there at Moparts....Overnight from 10 until 6 this morning, I counted 9 new posts in the general forum. Nine. There is easily double that here, maybe triple.

I've noticed some members here that came from there but it's been a good 10+ years since being active there so I won't know who has come here from there that signed up within that timeline. The mods there were ruthless for a good long time....

The little red x is annoying but people are entitled to have opinions. This is a public forum and when you post stuff you have to be understanding that all people will not agree with you. The better thing to do is to just ignore the negative comments. I am sure no one here is intending on making fun or belittling you. Its just that people have opinions and they all have the belief that they are as right as you are. I wouldn't sweat it..
To many people that pickup a wrench, an think they are a mechanic. I remember the old days when you bought headers for a new Mopar and they didnt come even close to fitting any thing but the bolt pattern on the cyl. head. In 1968 when i went to the drag races, and wanted to see the store bought headers, on factory cars, they were custom built. not out of a box at the local parts house. all the best.

Makes me feel like a tool, putting on TTI headers. Never learned to weld, to my lasting shame. IDK how I look my wife in the eye every night...

I do agree theres nothing having to fabricate 700.00 headers.. lol I saw Steve beat the snot out of David freiburgers brand new TTI headers.. lol you can’t account for every combination of car/engine out there. So on the fly asjustments are needed. You have to be part mechanic and part fabricator to make stuff work.

I have been posting some things I have run into to help other MOPAR members that may run into the same things. I get some disagreements on some of my posts. I find it strange. I posted that STOCK HP exhaust manifolds were designed to give max HP and many times are better then headers. The Disagree postings started. I mentioned STOCK engines not built. Also, I ask all the know everything members to think how many HEADERS were available in 1969, 1970 and must I continue? So I will not post any more things that I have run into. I do not have the knowledge as so many young people have.
The stock manifolds on the 60's cars were H.P. it was always said back then they were better than headers. But that was just hype. I worked on cars then and also worked in a speed shop store. Dyno tested the Headers did give more HP than the stock HP, but not trashing stock headers, they performed excellent and were HP parts. Most everyone wanted Hooker Headers back then and cherry bombs. Don't quit writing just stop complaining.

Stock manifolds do seem to last a long time barring they don't ever crack however a set of headers on my 340 Cuda lasted for the 15 years I owned the car and they were on it when the car was purchased.

I'm one of the old guys and was around when these cars were new (Roadrunners, Super Bee's etc) Mag wheels and headers were some of the first things we thought about. Were the headers so much for performance in our minds or just something everybody else was doing ?? I do know I liked the way they made my car sound (that tinny sound) I have headers on my current car and love them until it's time to change the starter :) I see a lot of guys going back to the HP manifolds for that reason. I sold mine long ago for almost as much as the headers cost so I'm out of luck if I did want to change back. All I wanted to really say is if you don't want someone to disagree with you never never post anything in any forum :)

a disagree is an opinion. You can't argue against it, and you don't need to justify it. It's just an opinion.
It's like God.
My opinion is that He's real. But He has never spoken to me, and I've never seen Him.
Your opinion might be that there is no God, cuz He has never spoken to you, nor have you ever seen it him.
So each of us gives the other a big red X; now what? You can't argue against opinion, and you don't need to justify it.
Yet millions of people, over thousands of years, have slaughtered each other over this very opinion.

heres a set of headers built by a friend of mine in a 66 ford fairlane gt 390, talk about a tight fit

Watch Nick's Garage on Youtube stock HP manifolds vs Headers. Headers giver around 28 horse greater. Headers were available in 1969 and 70 as aftermarket products by Hooker and others

That was a great site 5 years ago. I still visit there but there is not much action there anymore most of the good people have passed on or went to other forums...
