Got a used 11" flywheel for my 4 speed installation. I'm having it cleaned and resurfaced, should it be checked for balance.

and the clutch
Here is a picture of the flywheel with factory numbers, my question is this a match for a 1969 440 steel crank.
Looks like it has drilled balancing holes around the outside edge.

so what are the factory numbers
most likely yes unless it is a different diameter which I can't tell from the pic
did you try in on your crank? holes line up?
clutch fit? (there are a couple of different clutch bolt circles in Mopar world)
geared vs direct drive starters etc

That looks like the proper non-counterweight flywheel for a internally balanced steel crank engine.
But you are right, it has been previously balanced . The problem is that you don't know if it is neutral balanced now, or if it was specifically balanced to match and balance a motor that was "off". I would sure have it checked to see what you have. Cheap insurance against having to pull it out again after installation .
