Best way to install motor & transmission

Ya ya ya.... 100 years from now you will not remember this... Remember Lee Iacocca ? :>)

Da Ford Chrysler flip flop

I recently went to his funeral....

I have done hundreds of engine pulls, swap, installs. Including Hemi's. From the top. Never had the luxury of doing it the factory way. Dropped mine in and didn't scratch a thing.
I have a cherry picker and also a electric overhead houst/crane in my garage that rolls on a 6" I beam. Needless to say everyone always brings there engine jobs to my house when needed.

I will always go in from the bottom.

Took the engine & trans out through the top a few years before this, and nearly lost a couple of berries.
Ok you're using a cheery picker to support body, didn’t want to remove my k frame but I don’t want my engine-compartment scratched either. Definitely 4 speed and engine together now. Maybe I’ll detail the k anyway now. More work! Thanks for convincing me

You can hang the front end suspension off the K-Frame with the engine assembly just like I did...easy as to install.

People seemed scared to undo the K-Frame...the bolts are almost idiot-proof - self-aligning with their semi-spherical 'humps' on the shoulder just under the head.

Just looked and I’ll have to take the sway bar brackets off, front k frame bolt is behind it. Was trying to keep in one assembly but..

Just did this again last week. 20 minutes and it’s installed I will never drop 1 in from the top again

Experience needed....

I am trying to figure out the best way to install my hemi engine and 4spd. I have a photo here I took off the web for my demonstration purposes. Different way to install the engine and trans. The traditional way is lowering both in to the engine bay from the top.

My question is once the car is painted and all prettied up and ready for the motor. Would it be easier to install the engine...... from the bottom with K member attached as the picture illustrates or the traditional way?

The body does not have the original Hemi K member in it now. I have the Hemi K member ready to install by its self or with the motor and K member together with wheel assemblies shown in the picture.

Thank in advance... Mike

Interesting thing about the yellow paint stripe on the transmission. The transmission was on a rack with the tail-shaft up for that particular inspection and the drips would go the axially not vertical. But, I may be wrong.
