Jury Duty

I consider myself not a dead American,if you want to be on a jury of your peirs, then go work in their cell blocks daily ,then have at it!

Been on a few. Usually get tossed do to being an old white guy with Urban Youthful looking thugs charged. Got another one. Annoying but I’ll go. I’ll be fair. Taxpayers take it in the shorts as I get full pay.

One time I happened to be in the bathroom same time as guy accused of killing his parents. Palo Alto Court, South San Jose crime in the late 90’s. Didn’t get on the Jury, but his own brother said he did it. He was acquitted!

My father served on a murder trial as an alternate. Based on my personal experience of the "injustice system", I have sworn never to speak to either an attorney nor a judge the rest of my days.

No way Un-American. Being Old,White, and as I stated, answering the questionnaire Truthfully. In no way was I skirting. I was serious about being a full time juror. I just asked if there was a thing under comments. I was denied once when asked if I had any physical contact with domestic violence. I said I did as my neighbor chased his wife down the street and beat her with a brick when I was a child.
I was being truthful.
Several times I was denied because I knew the Judge (different Judges) personally.
I will gladly go again if called to do so.

Was called about 4 times. 3 times sat in a room all day with 50 other people and didn't get picked. They paid us $10 a day. Didn't even cover the cost of parking in the lot and lunch. The one time I was picked, it was a drunk driver case. I was dismissed because my wife's car was rear ended by a drunk driver. She got banged up, 2 herniated discs. Luckily my kids who were in the car didn't get hurt even though the minivan was totaled.

They kept selecting me for Jury Duty, even after I told them that I work in a prison, in direct contact with inmates out in the cell blocks on a daily basis. After 4 times of me telling them why I would not serve on a jury, they seem to have finally gotten the message!
I recently had jury duty. I stressed about it and was not looking forward to it. My reason to get out of it was going to be similar to Chargervert. I'm the facility maintenance guy in a Juvenille hall. I inderctly work around the juveniles , there spoiled and I think there guilty as hell. Some get released and come back in a few days. Many of our guests have committed serious crimes.
As it turned out about 50 of us waited about 4 hours. We were called into the court room and the judge told us the person pled guilty at the last minute. He thanked us for serving and gave some info on the case. It was a home invasion.
As a county worker I get my full pay for jury duty. But it was a big waste of time and money.
